Winco Fish Stainless Steel Commercial Spatula

I have been using this Winco fish spatula for over a year, typically a couple of times per week, and it has held up very well in regular kitchen use. I primarily use it with cast iron pans, and it performs well for both flipping and scraping food without issue. One of the main benefits for me is that I no longer have to worry about plastic utensils degrading or leaving bits behind in high-heat cooking, which gives me more confidence when cooking at higher temperatures. The spatula has remained durable over time with no noticeable permanent bending or warping of the metal, even with frequent use. Because of the wooden handle, I do not put it in the dishwasher, which is something to consider for anyone looking for low-maintenance cleanup. One drawback I have noticed is the blade angle and bend. It is clearly designed with right-handed use in mind, and as a left-handed user, it can feel awkward during scraping and flipping. This is not something I considered before purchasing, but it does affect the overall comfort of use. Love this. I use it for everything (in stainless steel pans, not non-stick). Fried egg? Burger? The wide slots drain the maximum amount amount of fat back into the pan, not on my plate. It's sturdy enough to handle all average use, and is no prima dona. The thinness of the edge slips under your food easily. Yep, the handle could be smoother, but at $8.00 - if I cared - I could quickly sand it myself! I leave it as is, the slight roughness means that even if I get oil on my hands, the spatula will not slip. Like all of my wooden utensils, the handle will last best with a quick oiling every few months. It's so light weight and cheap that I toss it in my suitcase if I'm going to do any cooking on vacation, too - either in kitchenettes or camping. The only limitation is that the handle is short - if I'm cooking over a fire that means the pan has to be removed from the fire before using it. I'm a compulsive cook - and after 60 years of cooking I've used the best and the not so good. This is a perfect tool - not flashy, not fancy, not expensive - and I've never found better for simple functionality. I've bought several - like my favorite cheap spurtles (the Baderke skinny), I give them away frequently - and my friends love them too. If you want elegance, this isn't it. If you want function and price, this is a huge winner.

Possibly forged in the molten heart of a distant industrial realm where stainless steel dreams are hammered into existence by spatula artisans who whisper, “flip gently” into the void. Performance: exceptional. Despite its official designation as a “fish spatula,” this daring little tool has demonstrated remarkable versatility by taming an altogether different creature—the elusive land bird known as chicken. In a stainless steel pan, no less. A risky environment where lesser tools cling, tear, and panic. But not Winco. No—this spatula glides. It slides beneath golden crusts like a diplomat negotiating peace. It lifts with grace. It flips with quiet confidence. It does not question your technique, even when it absolutely should. Ergonomics: handle = solid. Slots = aerodynamic (probably). Flex = just enough to whisper, “trust me.” In conclusion, I cannot verify where it was born, but I can say this: somewhere, someone should be proud. Because this is not just a fish spatula. This is a multi-species negotiation device. 10/10. Would flip again.

These are quite nice. My only minor issue is the handles could be a bit wider. I have another spatula I like a lot with the same handle dimensions so it's not a big deal but I find the handles that are a bit wider and not so square feel better in the hand. However this spatula works like a charm. It is for fish, but really it works for a lot of things. Cookies slide on and off it smoother than a solid spatula and turning just about anything is a bit easier since things don't stick to the blade as much. Small pieces it's not so great for since they get caught in the slots but that is pretty expected. The angles also fit the sides of my frying pans better than the square sharp cornered blades. --Update__ now after about a year I can say they are still working great. BTW Why 4 stars? Well the finish when they arrived could have been better. They are stamped out, of course, and they could have used a bit more deburing than they had. I found the edges rather sharp and so I spent a little time with sand paper to round them, and smooth the wood a bit. I also oiled the wood which was pretty unfinished when it arrived. These are not big deals and for the price are right in the just fine ballpark. The design could also better support the blade. IF the wood extended a bit past where the blade cuts in to the handle width it would add a lot of strength to the blade at that point. As it is if you push down hard on the blade id can bend where it meets the handle. Again not a big deal since this is not how it is supposed to be used but a slight change would have helped a lot. So all the little bits made it a 4 star product but I would give it a five star value, if that makes any sense.

This has become one of my favorite kitchen tools. It's really durable even though it might appear thin. It's been great when I'm searing different things in the pan.

Read article recommending a fish spatula for flipping eggs without breaking the yolks so saw this one on a "deal" and decided to buy one for my wife to try. I'd never heard of one before and neither had she. First time she used it cooking she was amazed at how cleanly she was able to separate and flip the food. She now uses this spatula over her regular one for all kinds of food prep be it eggs, fish or battered chicken etc. The knife edge helps to easily get under the food so you can lift or flip it with minimal damage to the coating. Makes separating the skin on fish a breeze. The angled blade is a nice feature which makes easier to position under the food and keep your hand away from the hot pan. This product is well made with just the right amount of blade stiffness and the wooden handle fits in your hand comfortably and should last a long time. I like that the wood was riveted so the handle won't separate over time like other designs. Though she had no problem with the handle, I would have preferred one a little longer. Not a big deal though so I still gave it 5 stars for easy to hold. She loved it so much she asked me to buy her a second one! Highly recommend adding this product to your kitchen tool kit.

I’m pleased with this spatula! The steel feels sturdy while being thin and flexible, and the wood handle gives it a nice classic look. It’s comfortable to grip and does the job well for flipping and turning a variety of things, I love it for pancakes! great value for a reliable kitchen tool.
