Magic Chef MCAR240SE2 Energy Star Stainless Steel Door 2.4 Cu. Ft. Mini All-Refrigerator, Silver

This is an additional review of the freezer. I have had it now for about eight months and defrosted it. It is a real joy. So simple and fast with defrosting. All you do is turn off the current or set the control to zero and put a large pan of hot water inside and close the door. In no time it is completely defrosted. Just dry out the interior with a large towel. See earlier review below.This freezer arrived quite damaged. This is the SECOND one that came damaged from Amazon. The first was from another seller on Amazon. I am quite sure that both of these from different sellers were damaged before shipment. They buy these units damaged at a very cheap price. They in turn put them on Amazon and hope that the buyer will accept them in the condition they are received. This unit arrived with a huge big dent in one side and the door post that holds the door was so bent out of shape that the door wouldn't even begin to close. Fortunately for me I had a very nice UPS driver that helped me take it out of the carton and set it up on a shelf where I wanted it. I have back problems and he was very nice to do this. He took it upon himself to straighten out the door hinge piece and kept working with it and finally was able to get the door to close. It arrived this badly. I contacted Amazon customer service and spoke with a very nice woman and an adjustment was made for the unit arriving the way it did. I am living with the huge dent on the side but after the UPS guy fixed the door, the unit is working fine.The freezer seems to be well made enough but I doubt seriously that it is a 3 cubic foot freezer inside. It is the same size outside as an old Philco freezer I bought in 1984 that has lasted all these years until recently and is a 3 cubic foot freezer. The Philco is bigger inside and also has a basket. Still, this unit runs quietly and so far has kept things nicely frozen. I would give it a five star if it was bigger inside and had a basket for the bottom section. Also, the temperature control inside and the coils make it smaller. The old Philco had all the coils and control on the back side of the unit.For what it is, I do think it well worth having if you can deal with what I have said above.

As many others' reviews stated, the mini freezer arrived dented although both the inner and outer packaging was completely intact. Obviously, it was damaged before being placed in the boxes. In my opinion, it should have been advertised as such. In my case, it is being used in a garage, so looks are not as important, but it would have been nice to know that the mini freezer was from a "scratch and dent sale."As for functionality, it started humming as soon as it was plugged in and got cold quite quickly. Some reviews said the motor was loud, but I found the opposite to be true. I have only had the mini freezer a couple of days, so this review is limited.BTW, it was delivered a day early, which was a problem because we didn't have keys to our unit yet. Fortunately, that was resolved.

I was upset to see the Magic Chef 1.7 Cu fridge, the 18eyw-2 was discontinued….. but the new model is FAR superior! It’s quieter, vents less ambient heat, and gets as cold or colder without icing over nearly as much!I couldn’t be more pleased!

The Seal appeared to NOT be fitting properly, which led to "heavy frost" in 3 weeks time ! It's not a frost free unit , so 1 expected routine defrosting...... but not 4 days after defrosting the unit !! AMAZON replaced it with a new one, no questions asked !! The original one was Trashed ....... besides frosting up quickly , it had a strong electrical smell and my Electric bill had skyrocketed in one month !!! MAGIC CHEF originally had a stellar product reputation, until "Made In China" appeared on the scene ....

It came as promised and works well for a small kitchen or a backup freezer.

Fits right into my little place…..

It took a really long time to get the freezer - I think it was actually lost for awhile. It turned out to be smaller and holds a lot less than we expected. It doesn't feel like it seals well when you close it, and you have to be careful to keep stuff away from the door or it will pop open when no one is around. I wish we had kept our older freezer, instead of tossing it when we got this one.
