Warm rich tones!
I couldn't be happier with these batter heads. I played 2 layer heads back in the late 70's. And these heads have the rich accents driven by the low tones that they deliver. Even when tuned up high they still hold a ripe tone. And you can actually tune back down and they don't sound damaged! Would highly recommend 👌

Love These Heads!
Replaced all of my top and bottom heads on my toms. It was long overdue. I love the sound of these - they have a deeper tone and not as much reverb. They also seem easier to tune, although I don't have a great ear for that. I mostly play rock and these are a great fit. I still need to use some small surface dampeners as I like a dry sound. They are two-ply and seem very durable, with a great feel. I also happen to think they look sharp as well.

Good drum head, a bit too expensive though
Good drum head for vintage music, jazz, latin jazz and/or maybe old funk. Box shipped to my door in nice condition, head was easy-to-tune, just like all the other heads that Evans makes. Nice tone, but a bit too expensive for my taste, but at the same time authentic calfskin heads (not Remo Fiberskyn or any heads along those lines) are increasingly hard to find at an affordable price, so at least these heads make up for it. Would 100% recommend Evans heads for any cheap drumset or any other type of drum that has either odd sizing, woods like spruce or poplar, or really any other set.

Durable and beastly
This head is a beastly batter head. Having multiple snares to compare against, I am going to give a detailed review. Tuning... This Evans Onyx is durable. It's on a 5×14 PDP Concept Maple snare. I have it pretty high pitched, about a half step lower than my 6.5x13" Pork Pie snare with Ambassador heads. It stretched evenly and has a darker sound. It's very controlled. There are few overtones. I do not have a moon gel on it. It's use is great for heavy stuff or if your looking for a dark, focused yet controlled attack. It would not use it for a jazz gig or a concert gig. The The response from the head is not even close to what an Ambassasdor or Evans G1 or G2 head would be. Doubles need to be stroked out more to get a clean, responsive sound.

Evans drum heads! What else.
I gave this rating because of the quality of this drum head.It is by far the best that i have ever used in all the years i have been playing the drums. You will notice that i have purchased other Evans products, and i stand by the quality of these products and always when replacing them i replace with Evans products. Anyone who plays percussion will benefit from buying this brand and will satisfied with there performance.
