Excellent kit for moderately experienced builders
I have always wanted to own a Doppler Triangulation transmitter detector. This can be used for T-hunts and finding those elusive transmitters.I looked around and found this kit. Building the kit gives me pleasure, since most stuff these days is ready made, and when it doesnt work, it is thrown out.The kit took me two evenings to built. On the third evening, I put it all together.Hints:- For the antenna bases, I used older 8mm Video cassette tape boxes. I used a soldering iron to make the holes needed (do this outdoors).- For the antenna distribution board, I placed it in an older Omega hard disk carrier.- I placed my callsign on the box by using white lettering and sprayed it with paint sealant to stop the letters falling off.- I bought a 12V/6A lithium battery, and using velcro, attached it on the side of the controller.Although not mentioned, this can be used for AM or FM. I use it to detect AM transmitters as well as FM. You can find where an FM statioin is located for example.Downside: the 9 pin RS-232C connector (that connects to antenna assembly to the unit), should have a sleeve.

Excellent kit, wish there were more like it...
I'm an old die hard when it comes to kits, many hours of fun constructing and the pleasure of seeing the kit work. in this case the kit is of an older technology electronically, however the quality of the circuit board and the straight forward instructions made it a pleasure. The only inaccurate item in the instructions was the color code hint for the 8.2k resistor. Not bad guys...Best regardsian older technologythe effort putting together

A well tested (old) design that performs.
Worked great! I'd like it better if the instructions were more educational, they are very good assembly instructions but give only a brief theory of operation and no explanation of how it works or what each component does. Tell the novice (or seasoned) builder why & what each component is there for & what effect changing its value has on the circuit. Then a cheap kit becomes valuable, by adding a few cents of just paper & ink, that's one thing I'm suggesting. It is also a great table top enclosure but very difficult to mount in the car. If 4 labels, each oriented with "up" toward the different sides, were available then it'd be an easy fix (re-label) to install it oriented any way you like in you car. Routing the 3 cables (Audio, antenna switch, & power) out the back (Thick side or top of slope) while keeping the slope front facing me...well if I build another the LEDs and pots will be broke out onto separate boards and boxes for easier mobile installation. Still, the bottom line is it WORKS! I use mine on 6 meters with a couple of mods (7uH inductors instead of 1.2uH and parallel .01 with all the .001uF caps in the antenna switch circuits)

A real joy to build!
I built a Doppler array from scratch in the past, and Ramsey once again comes through with another great kit. This is the sixth Ramsey kit I have assembled and other than one easy to spot misprint in the assembly guide it went together without a hitch. I highly recommend this kit.

easy to assemble
good product, pretty easy to assemble, good instructions.

Good piece of HAM gear.
Works very well. Good kit, decent instructions, although there were some errors in the manual, just read the whole manual before building. The stick on rubber magnets for the antenna mounts are the only weak point. Easily fixed with rare earth mags, or small regular antenna mags are easy fix. This kit is well worth the build. Great piece of direction finding gear.
