I used to use Nathan Sports Wash (liquid detergent) for years to hand-wash my gym/bike wears to keep the stink off of them, but for some reason the detergent is no longer available, and this Active Wear item came up in search results, so I decided to give it a try. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS POWDER DETERGENT, NOT LIQUID. I also realized that this one doesn't lather as much as Nathan or other common detergents. In fact it doesn't lather much at all, which was *initially* a turn-off. But after a few tries, I realized (1) powder vs. liquid isn't really an issue at all :-), (2) it does work just as well (if not possibly better) in keeping the stink off, and (3) the fact it doesn't lather actually helped when I run a washer cycle with this (as Nathan Power Wash probably lathered too much in the drum and often left some soapy residue after the spin). So I'm glad I gave this product a chance. It comes with so much volume that I haven't still finished my first bag after 8 months (and I work out 3-4 times a week), but I'll be sure to buy it again when it runs out.

Regular detergent was leaving my gym clothes and running gear smelling sour again within an hour of putting them on, even right out of the wash. This detergent actually solved it — no more trapped sweat smell in my technical fabrics, even after tough workouts. It's clearly formulated to cut through the odor-causing buildup that regular detergents just mask, and it rinses completely clean without leaving residue that clogs performance fabric (which I think was part of the problem before). No overpowering fragrance either, just genuinely clean-smelling clothes. Safe on all my moisture-wicking gear, no fading or breakdown of the fabric's stretch. This is the only detergent I'll use for activewear now — total game changer for anyone who works out regularly.

I really like this laundry detergent. A small amount cleans really well and leaves my laundry smelling fresh. No suds leaves no residue and it cleans well at low temperatures. This will be my detergent going forward.

I am a daily gym rat and sweat a lot. Have the same few shorts and handful of shirts I use as my regular gym attire. No matte what I tried, my gym cloths had a perma-stink. During and after workout, sometimes the smell of ammonia, bad underarm skunk, and just overall funk. It was embarrassing. I'd double wash my clothes, use baking soda with detergent. deodorant on the t-shirts themselves. Tried everything from soaking them in vinegar and detergent and water for half a day and then washing them. This would last a few times, but that old smell would creep back in. As soon as body heat started warming up the shirt... I was obviously skeptical. But tried it. After the first wash with only one scoop of this, the next day was significantly noticeable. The clothes didn't stink. Were they perfect? No, but 80% better. After the next wash was 90%. I think if you use this regularly, and use like 1.5 x 2 x the recommended amount, then this by far is the best solution compared to all others. I definitely recommend it. I gave it 4 tars instead of 5 because after a week of using, There are still a couple of shirts that have not been fully removed of smell. We'll see if continued use with larger scoops helps

I am gobsmacked, actually flabbergasted that this actually works. All my gym girls and guys gather here. So...I go to the gym about 4 days a week and cannot wash my gym attire immediately after because I have to go to work. So clothes sit in my bag and just marinate in the sweat and heat. Plus its hotter that the pits of hell so I've been sweating way more. None and I mean none of the other detergents were getting the job done, trust me I have tried them all, until I came across this bad boy! I'm almost emotional writing this post... It also leaves your clothes smelling really crisp and fresh. It's amazing!!! I also got a cute little note in my package from Liz, who I thinks is one of the company's owners. Liz...girl!!!!!!!! Wherever you at mama, you and your people are doing the Lord's work. Please please please don't change the formulation.

This is a real accounting of this product, no BS. I have some shirts that had been tainted by my foul stench when I sweat from being nervous. My normal sweat doesn't smell at all, but when I have something troubling me...i stink. Yep I'm gross, and thereafter on those days my shirts stink, just the underarm area to be clear. The smell still exists after being laundered or more specifically they smell clean until I put them on and within five minutes I can smell them again and it gets worse throughout the day. I hate it. I have tried all the tide's for active people and some other detergents that are supposed to eliminate this exact odor, most have made little or no difference and I was just getting ready to toss all the stinky shirts and start over. No big deal, who doesn't like new clothes??!! But before I dumped my whole workout wardrobe I decided there must something, that someone makes that can eliminate this lingering substance in my clothes. So I starting reading more reviews and found this product (Active Wear Detergent) So I ordered it. I read multiple reviews with mostly good results and one person had suggested putting 4 scoops in with a load of wash and that had worked really well. I decided to take it a step further. I got a 10 gallon bucket, poured 4 scoops in with hot water grabbed all my stinky clothes from my closet and let them soak for 3 days hoping the enzymes would do their job. After 3 days I poured the water and clothes in my front load washer and put it on the longest cycle I could. After the washer and dryer had done their job I was amazed that 97% of the smell was out ALL of my shirts. I had been fooled before only to be let down after I put the shirt back on and my skin apparently reignited the putrid smells hibernating within. Shockingly after wearing what had been my smelliest shirt for an entire day it was fine. I went on to wear more of those shirts over the next week or two with the same results. I am truly surprised that the chemistry cooked up by Active Wear actually worked. In fairness, I soaked these clothes in this solution for 3 days before laundering and I doubt that had I just put these shirts in the washer with a scoop or two that it would have had the same effect, but who cares. I can soak 20 shirts in a bucket once a year if I need to, it's really not that hard. If you have workout clothes that just never feel fresh, try this product with the soaking method and you will likely be pleasantly surprised as I was. Good luck

I have four animals and a blue collar husband. This works great. I use Jamaican blue soap for pretreatment on stains. So far this is the only "clean" ingredient detergent that has worked getting out those extra smelly smells.

This detergent got out set in odors from athletic wear.

I received the product teared opened !!! And sealed back with a tape !! Not recommended!

Good stuff! I sweat through many shirts working or outdoor activities in the hot summer. Some of those just never seem to smell clean after a while. This product has consistently done a good job cleaning and eliminating the musty smell. I’d buy it again.

works really well... i use it for my hockey cloths... gets that hockey stink out of hockey shirts.. so i decide to try it on my elbow guards... boy do they smell bad... i put them in the washer and got a bit of the smell out.. so next step got a bucket added i scope and soaked them for a while let them dry and smell was gone... so far when rewearing the clothing and elbow pads.. smell didnt return but im sure it will... but if washing it here and there takes the smell out well worth it..
