EarthWise Aromatics Shea Butter Soap Base - 100% Natural - 2 lbs

As part of a stuck at home crafting adventure my girls and I decided to make soap. We had no idea what we were doing and we were able to make soap. LOL Using a base like this makes it so much easier because all you are really doing is melting it. It’s not complicated by having to wait for it to sit out for a certain amount of time and you don’t have to worry about the lye getting you. It’s just easy. I stuck it in the microwave in little chunks and stirred it occasionally until I got it into a liquid state. It did set up pretty quick, so make sure that you’re ready when you start pouring. Also if you’ve got a little clump in there that did not get melted all the way obviously the little clump stays there. Kind of face palm moment, but we learned that the hard way. I was a little worried about adding essential oils while it was still hot because I was concerned that if it was too hot One of two things could happen, Either the oil could reach a flashpoint or the hotness would take away the Oils goodness. Neither were a problem. The soap set up really well and held its smell well. We really didn’t add any color to the soap because we didn’t want to add anything extra that wasn’t necessary, but you could totally add dye if you wanted to make it colored. as far as essential oils, we did several different ones. Lavender, thieves, cinnamon, purification, lemon myrtle... we added about 10 to 12 drops per bar. The thieves and cinnamon bars are not hot. Both of those oils can be hot oils but I didn’t use enough to cause a reaction.

I have done extensive research into available soap base distributors and their ingredients. I can tell you that after a year and a half of making homemade soaps (with organic ingredients only), this is by far the best company to use. They have a consistent quality product that arrives, and their ingredient list is as basic and consistent as it comes. I have seen a considerable amount of negative reviews about sodium hydroxide, but this is the ingredient that creates the soap lather, so you will not find a soap base without it. Other brands, like Our Earth's Secrets includes additives in their soap bases that are unnecessary, if you're looking for an outstanding pure soap base.I highly recommend these guys and I have received nothing but positive reviews and feedback (when asking for constructive feedback, that is) about my soaps that have been made with ingredients from this company. This is a MUST-HAVE when you are looking to minimize chemicals and other potentially harmful ingredients that you cannot pronounce and know nothing about them.

Melts down slowly but doesn’t burn, works great for liquid soaps too.

Overall I like this soap, it was easy to work with. I used a double broiler to melt the soap. It did melt slow but once I got it into the molds it hardened quickly. The soap I received did have a slight smell and this is my first time working with this soap so I don't know it it's natural or not. It's not bad. You can add fragrances and oil if you don't like it.

I LOVE this soap base. I can take some getting used but once you learn how to work with it, it's amazing. I'm so distraught that I can't find it anywhere at the time but it truly does make great soap!

This smells a little weird, but nothing a strong essential oil can't overcome. It melts smoothly and is easy to manage. It does thicken quickly though

The item is not a full 2lbs and does take longer to melt. Ive never had a bad smell coming from it like some of the other reviews state and it didn't cruble. It did make my skin soft and soap up well. As for value for your money goes. I believe the price should drop given it's not a full 2lbs.

Best white base I've used yet! Amazing lather and holds alot of additives! Works well with hemp seed, coconut and macadamia nut oils! I added 30ml of essentials and 30ml of the 3 oils together and the soap came out amazing! All my customers loved it!
