Great all-around Meter for detecting wireless hazards
I didn't want to spend too much time with a detailed review on this but after seeing the bogus negative reviews on here, I had to chip in. First off this is about as good as it gets as far as detecting just about every conceivable wireless device that is commonly around us these days. If there is one negative I can find about this meter is that it doesn't pick up really fast spikes from devices such as smart meters very well. You can clearly hear every spike but it will only register 25-50% of the time on the display readout. This is not a big deal though unless you want really scientific data on every spike. You will still get a good idea of what average power the Smart Gas/Water/Electric Meter puts out. What this does better than most any other meter is that it's very sensitive and covers a much larger Microwave frequency range than most others. Some meters are better for Smart Meters but only cover up to 3 Ghz frequency. So they will not detect the 5.8 Ghz phones or Routers that are increasing in popularity. The LED lights also make using this device so simple and if you want more technical info, the display will give you near exact measurements of what it's reading. Are there meters out there that are better and give better info? Defintely but it will cost you... to the tune of thousands of dollars in most cases. I bought this simply because it's very educational as well as great at showing you what you can't see or hear. Always use it check out areas I haven't been to before to locate Cell Towers and the like. Very Pleased with it having owned it for the past 6 months or so now. Pros: Very sensitive and picks up weak microwave signals from very far away Picks up a very broad range of microwave signals ranging from 200 Mhz to 8 Ghz and beyond Informative LCD display that shows exact up-to-date readings Simple LED displays that show peak of signal strength and average Very Helpful Audio function that allows to hear what type of signal is being emitted Battery life is great around 15-20 hours with two rechargeable AA NiMh batteries Cons: Does not always detect really fast microwave emissions from devices such as Smart Meters Not a Tri-Axis Meter

Simple interface but very sensitive and comprehensive, a must have against cancers by telcoms!...
You all just said a lot for it! Now, after my first month but plenty of highly intensive usage of it...I can confirm that this Acoustimeter worth each cent of it to help you avoid the current EMF smog in stupid progress today...as much as possible to preserve your health and thus really prolong your life! It helped me a lot to discover even hidden wave guide ray dispersions from a GSM cell tower crossing a village to far destination and this way stupidly exposing by providers negligence some part of people around that area! Just walk down the village or in your city with this amazing device activated to get unexpected dangerous level RF signals around and then find their sources to take care of! When talk about wave guides, direction antennas, intense radiation may randomly strike you from far you will never know! In the ideal and certainly initial case , wave guides linking the cell towers or even new WiFi APs are properly settled to higher alttitudes straight lines but new obstacles, buildings or many other external factors may alter and disperse a lot that radio wave energy. It also helped a lot inside my appartment to locate then get shielded from my stupid neighbours leaving WiFi routers continously running...

It does it's job...
It may be pricey but it does a damn good job, my one complaint is that I wish it could give a readout of the specific frequencies it is picking up. But it's more than sensitive enough to pick up the weakest of sources, and the device is designed to make distinguishing different sources of RF and strength of those sources acoustically or audibly. Has a built in speaker but has a standard headphone output that makes a real difference once your used to using it. It gives signal strength readouts in both peak and real time constant update. And those readouts are supplied in two formats at once. One is the American "standard" version, and the other is a more accurate representation is how I can best describe it, without going into it. So yeah it's a good piece of equipment and it does it's job, it's much harder to get people to do their job in response to the readouts I have taken with this devise.

this is good, it works as advertised
this is good, it works as advertised. but for me it was a bit of a novelty. basically don't have wifi stuff near your bed. pretty basic. save them money.

Essential
Seller was excellent. Product arrived well packaged, and on-time. In addition, the seller sent (in advance) PDFs of what the product looks like, and information about what the readings mean. Everything is as advertised. You can watch UTubes of people using this product (and I'm planning at least one of my own). It turns on in seconds, displays three different forms of information -- current energy density, energy level and peak energy level -- in numeric readout as well as two LED scales and just works exactly as advertised. In my wildest pipe dream the only thing I would wish for is a way to 3D map an area so that I could see a movie/animation that showed the concentric rings of the same energy density. Maybe the units costing thousands or tens of thousands can or will do this in the future. Having now used the product for several days, I can say that everyone should have one of these. Why? Because you never know where, and what, the threats are. Some areas I thought would be a problem (commercial businesses) turned out to have zero risk (levels below 1). Unfortunately, other areas including where I live have very high, to extremely high, levels. The seller's PDF said that levels below 10 are a slight concern. In the immediate neighborhood -- one block from cell phone masts on top of a retirement home -- I measured levels up to 17,000...on the front steps of neighbor homes I have taken drastic action on my property with peak inside levels of 1,000 (including 700+ levels one foot from the dog's bed). I now carry this when I go out -- it gives surprisingly close (factor of two) readings even from inside a vehicle. Some of the measurements I've taken include: 60,000+ in front of microwave ovens (tested several). Wireless networking in the high thousands, and constant. Smart meters in the thousands -- and unfortunately these things are transmitting very regularly. Cordless phones are very high, and the cordless base stations are even worse. My home no longer uses cordless phones or wireless networking (I had stopped the latter years ago due to security concerns). When I use the microwave, I leave the room -- levels are in the hundreds if you do this. For me this product is one of the most important I've ever purchased. I've printed out and delivered pamphlets of my story and am offering the use of the meter to neighbors so they can see for themselves. Eye opening is an understatement. [Resubmitting my review...Amazon at first accepted it, then removed it without telling me...]

I'm not disappointed, actually impressed with the poor design
First, thank you to Amazon for changing the return policy on these kinds of devices, this was the only reasons for a number of years that I wouldn't buy these meters to call them out on their scammy and fraudulent claims. I bought this item as a curiosity and to write a review piece online and it has definitely served that purpose. This in addition to the Trifield EMF meters are what got me started on this journey to expose the scam that are these EMF meters. It also was a nice hardware reverse engineering challenge to see if I could extract firmware from it, which I was able to easily do (with a Tag Connect TC2030-MCP 6-Pin Cable) and it loads nicely into Ghidra to see the scam that this device is pulling of which is very similar to the Trifield TF2. From what I was able to gather upon tearing down the device (which obviously the people who buy this product don't have knowledge of electronic components/systems) think of it as a crystal AM radio kit with very bad and poor attempt patch antenna using copper tape that is amplified with a bunch of audio grade amplifiers and fed into an analog-to-digital converter on a microcontroller (Microchip PIC18F46K42 in this case) and then the measurement is then converted to some number and displayed on the LCD and LED bar graph display. Being the competent RF engineer that I am, I measured the VSWR of the copper tape antenna, and it is clearly not as wide band as claimed (It's only good mid-way through L-Band at 1500 MHz, with a VSWR pretty much at unity). This evidence clearly shows that the device is definitely not capable of measuring the claimed frequencies of 0.2 - 8.0GHz in a controlled way, as it's non-linear and you can't exactly calibrate that out with a lightweight microcontroller. This alone shows how much of a scam and money grab this meter is. So this device (EMFields Acoustimeter AM11), is a scam that relies on the exploitation of people who fear technology and falsely believe that the tech is causing them ill effects... and also think that all RF is like nuclear radiation, which it is most definitely not. So basically this becomes the "confirmation-bias" meter that they can point to what they think the offending device and say "see it's that", when in reality they're seeing a signal amplified non-linearly anywhere from x100 - x10000 times its actual power level and then are falsely led to believe that they're health condition is not caused by other environmental factors and/or other underlying health problems. I'm sorry to tell you that you're more likely to get skin cancer from the Sun and if unchecked that will metastasize to the brain (Yea you're more likely to get brain tumors from the sun than RF from your devices). I'm also sorry to tell if you're looking to save $10,000 to $100,000 by buying the Acoustimeter instead of equipment from Keysight, Tektronix, Rohde & Schwarz, Teledyne-Lecroy,, etc. you are only fooling yourself and are living in a different reality. In conclusion, this was a fun experience and gave me closure that this whole device is scam and I feel validated as an engineer that works with RF and plays with $100,000 RF test equipment that can actually measure what this claims to measure. It confirms everything I suspected about the design of these meters and it's all just a scam that relies on the exploitation of people's basic fears of technology. If you really want to actually measure EMF, just buy a Keysight Field Fox and a Triaxial antenna (About $20,000).

Decent but too expensive
This is a decent device. Assuming that the measurement is accurate, it seems to be working fine. However, it is VERY expensive. It also feels very cheap and fragile.
