I ordered two sets for front door and railing as well as pole light by driveway. Perfect solution for those without electrical outlet available. Battery life was surprisingly long and only needed replacing toward end of season, well after Christmas. Best feature by far is auto timer, set it and forget it, 18 hrs off, 6 hours on from whenever they are first turned on. There are 8 fun displays, although we used only last setting, which leaves them on fully, no blinking or flashing etc. If you prefer those displays, 7 to choose from. I did protect battery case with ziplock baggies to prevent rain/snow from getting in, worked perfectly!

I bought one string of these and one of another brand. The first three days I had these, they worked flawlessly. The other brand was DOA. So I ordered two more of these though a different Amazon vendor. After putting the second lot up, the one I bought here started going out long before 6 hours. The other two worked as described-- for a few days. Then one of them started going out randomly. I saw the instruction to push the button a second time to keep the lights on, but that only cycled it through the modes again. Now the lights don't even stay on 3 hours at a time, and they are completely erratic. I have to go out every night and turn them on manually, and then they don't stay lit any reliable amount of time. I'm going to try removing a battery to see if the memory can be reset, but these very pretty lights are a sad disappointment.

Well, bought 6 and 2 did not function. Here's a photo to show battery pack that hold 4 double A batteries, and look at the two snap tabs at the end of the battery pack. These mate respectively to a male and female tab on the light side...simply snaps together. I swapped good battery packs into the nonfunctional lights and it worked. Then, put the bad battery pack into the good light set and it didn't work. Swapped known good batteries into bad pack and it did not work. Therefore, there are 2 bad battery packs, each with an open circuit

These are decent but have some issuesThe hook for the battery holder is way too flimsy for the weight of the batteries. - this broke just from its own weight.The battery set up is actually a bit of a pain - there are 4 AA batteries but in a 9 volt type of connector -but the metal connectors are not well made and it is hard to get it to click in and be stable. If you move the battery compartment , these get easily knocked out of alignment.Also, don't think you are out going to be able to use this outside - the battery compartment is not even remotely water resistant, so it needs to be in a plastic container or be kept inside.The lights themselves are ok, but very small and a bit dim, so you should basically have double the amount you would normally use.Don't hate them enough to return them at this point, but wouldn't buy them again eitherThe "settings" have no instructions at all. You press a number of times to get flash or dim or on or off. Mine had no way at all to use a timer, which I wanted, and not a single word in the instructions that it was even possible to do a timer.

They fit around the whole top, back, side, and front wheels of my 4 door Jeep Wrangler! I had to purchase two more sets of smaller ones for on top of my back wheels. Overall highly suggest!

Awesome lights. I had them outside for a little over a month on the same batteries. I guess they memorized what time i turned them on and off, b/c they started turning on and off around the same time on their own. The lights looked great too. Was a Great option since I had no outside power source and the price was even better since it was long enough to stretch the entire front of my house.

I had tried using solar lights for our front yard, which does not get much sun in the daytime, without much success. These battery powered lights gave us the festive lights we wanted, with longer periods of light and without killing our electric bill. They do have an auto-timer and if I could make one change I'd like that to have a longer "on" period, but it's a minor complaint.

I got these because they were closest to the ideal length I needed in a single string.They're battery powered (4 AA) so that makes them extra convenient. I've had them lit four days and going strong. As long as I don't have to recharge the batteries every-other-day, I'm happy. (Others said they got 2 weeks out of their batteries running these lights. That's a good sign.)It's just got the one button to cycle through all the "twinkle" settings (and OFF) but I didn't have trouble finding a mode I liked.Packaging = functional. The lights came in a plain, but sturdy, little cardboard box that I will keep to store these in after the holidays. I appreciate that there wasn't extra plastic to throw out.

This item lights up our outside blue spruce. It has a timer which starts & stops the show. We have 3 strings on the tree and it is a “ light show” each night. The best thing is that it operates on 4 double A batteries and so far they work well! There are various modes from which you can chose the lighting patterns, which gives you choice. This is a solid buy!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  This is a great product if you don't want to run a cable from your house to light up the outside of your house. The battery lasted for 2 months and still going. Wish the lights were a little bigger though.UPDATE: These lights worked amazing last year. But this year it keeps shutting off. It goes on for about 10 seconds then shuts off for 35 seconds and comes back on for another 10 seconds and shut off again for another 35 seconds. Couldn't find anyway to fix it. So sad :(.

I ran this string of lights along the front of my farm house. (In the picture they're along the lower roof.) I was surprised at the thinness of the wire connecting the lights, but I've come to believe that that is a great feature. If you don't have a lot of storage space these lights are for you. They pack into a little 2x2x4 box. Every night that we turned the lights on they would eventually go out again that same night but they lasted the whole Christmas season.

I bought two of these and at first I was very pleased with the 8 different settings, brightness and the fact that they would turn on and off automatically, once I set them the first night. Unfortunately one of the sets stopped working after the first night and now a week later the other set has stopped working. I am going to see if the batteries have just worn out, but if they have, then one week is not very long for a new set of batteries to last. With the first set, which I am returning, it wasn’t a battery issue, they just stopped working. Hopefully I won’t have to return the second set. Very disappointed!
