Political satire at its best
It could be argued that the political world is so messed up at the moment that there is no need for satire. The Conservative Party included an in/out referendum on the UK's EU membership in its manifesto as a bargaining chip in case they were in another coalition with the Liberal Democrats so had to go through with it when they won the election. The only problem was they forgot to campaign properly and many people saw it as a popularity contest for David Cameron. Three years later and the divisions in the UK are deeper and wider than they have ever been and we have reached complete stalemate. You could not make this stuff up.Enter stage left, Cold War Steve and his fantastic collages depicting world leaders against 1970s backdrops of working mens' clubs and grim holiday camps while the incredulous Steve McFadden aka one of the Mitchell brothers, (I don't know which one because I never watch it) from EastEnders looks on. This is absolute genius stuff and each image is contrived in such a way that the leaders are depicted in sorrowful states of anguish and despair which reflects the misery they inflict on the world. Cilla Black also pops up in some scenes as does Piers Morgan and, most bizarre of all, Nick Knowles. The closest thing I have ever seen to this is some of the Crass record sleeves (eg Feeding of the 5000) from the early 1980s. This is guaranteed to put a smile on your face in these dreadful times.

Hogarth reborn
Good to try to make light of the disaster of brexit, whilst pointing out how politicians have only their personal interest in mind. Again a good one to keep for the future.

A must-buy for all Cold War Steve fans!
After following Cold War Steve on Twitter, this was a must-buy book and I was not disappointed! The book is good value and high quality and was delivered promptly. It is a perfect coffee table book, and one I find myself often picking up, and each time I do so, I spot something that I haven't done before. It is recommended for both Cold War Steve fans and fans-to-be (after seeing my book, I have had relatives and friends who had never heard of Cold War Steve who have subsequently bought it!).

Seen the tweets? Now buy the book
Like many other people I follow Cold War Steve on Twitter and love his fantastic collages featuring the likes of Donald Trump, Theresa May, Sam Allardyce and Kim Jong Un, all with Steve McFadden (and usually Cilla Black) somewhere in the background. This book is a collection of many of the pictures you'll have seen on his Twitter feed, plus some which haven't been seen before.I was surprised that the book is actually so small. I'd expected it to come as a big, glossy, coffee table sort of thing, but it's little bigger than a CD case really. This means that some of the pictures are a bit small, and if the book had been bigger you'd have really been able to see the detail, and make out some of the faces hidden in the background. One thing I'd have liked to have seen in the book, and this may seem a bit strange, is a list of who was in each picture. Sometimes when I've seen the images on Twitter I've had a look, only to see a later tweet mentioning that a certain person is in there, and when I've gone back and really scoured it I've finally spotted them. I suppose this could have tuned the book into a bit of a "Where's Wally?" affair, where you could have spent much longer looking through it, trying to find everyone. If you like the Twitter feed you'll love the book. If you've never seen the tweets you may be a little baffled!

The truth about Brexit
I have been a big fan of his instagram postings, but the book makes it all real, the introduction and writing by Cold War Steve particularly interesting

Hogarth has been eclipsed.
This is a superb and hilarious collection of images chronicling the madness of our times. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
