Molly Pitcher: Young Patriot (Childhood of Famous Americans)

This book is interesting not only for children but also for adults. Of course, it is intended for children, but adults will enjoy it too.

My daughter loves historical fiction with female main characters. We enjoyed this together as part of our American history unit. I believe it is about a 3rd or 4th grade level but is written in simple language, not too many hard vocabulary words so older special needs can enjoy too.

I love books that help my kids learn about real people from history. This book was fun to read and made you feel like you knew Molly. It focuses on her childhood, but also included the story of her helping the American soldiers during the Revolutionary War after she was grown. My biggest concern is that I don't think it will hold up well over the years because it was printed on low quality paper. It was inexpensive, so I wasn't surprised at the paper quality, but it is the sort of book I'd like to keep around, so we'll see how it holds up.

Great book to spark an interest in history and geography for children. My son teaches history and geography and these are the type of books I purchased when my children were little. I always wondered where my son got his love of history and realized these type of books were what I read quite often growing up. They always held my interest and I knew my children would love reading if they had similar books. Molly Pitcher and Thomas Edison were my subjects in grade school when I won D.A.R. awards!

Students gained better understanding

One granddaughter is named Molly and always loves watering my flowers.. and now she is reading , with her mommy of another Molly who took water to young men.. I bought two others for a granddaughter and a daughter who wanted to read of Molly Pitcher , :), as she loves history like her father. She is 48 and I just had to get her one..she loved it..nana

Read this series as a child and was hooked on reading and history. Bought this one has a "test" for my grandchildren and they loved it. Promptly bought six more in this series.

My kids absolutely love the "Childhood of Famous Americans" series. The are "assigned" reading in our homeschool, but I don't really have to assign them. They pick them up all on their own!
