The Amp 3.5 uses Princeton's rugged and lightweight thermoplastic body, overmolded for an ergonomic, positive grip. The Amp 3.5 offers two modes, a powerful high spot mode and a power sipping low output mode. The Amp 3.5 can always be at the ready with the included adjustable nylon lanyard and lanyard loop molded into the tail.Core TechnologyLess ThanBRGreater Than360 LightLess ThanBRGreater ThanThis light is designed for area illumination, and disperses light in a 360 degree pattern to light up a campsite or other area.Less ThanBRGreater ThanLess ThanBGreater ThanFocused Narrow BeamLess ThanBRGreater ThanThis pattern creates a long, powerful beam of light excellent for illuminating distant areas, or for use during fast paced activities.Less ThanBRGreater ThanLess ThanBGreater ThanIPX7Less ThanBRGreater ThanThis pattern creates a long, powerful beam of light excellent for illuminating distant areas, or for use during fast paced activities.Less ThanBRGreater ThanLess ThanBGreater ThanMaxbright LEDLess ThanBRGreater ThanThe highest quality LED available. Great little torch, excellent value
I've been a fan of Princeton Tec for over a decade now, mostly for their regulated LED headlamps and the durability of their products. This little torch reinforces my commitment to that brand for a few reasons:#1. Burn time - the specs advertise up to 170 hours of burn time on the low setting, which is more than adequate for all but the most demanding activities in dark or low light situations. I haven't tested it to complete drain yet but so far I've logged about 8 hours and it seems just as bright as the first time I used it.#2. Rubber overmold grip - if you're getting your hands dirty working on cars or small engines you will appreciate the high friction overmold grip on the Amp 3.5. Also I would suspect this feature also lends to the durability of the light, absorbing some of the force of a drop or other impact.#3. Power supply - larger torches like the Torrent take up to as many as (8) x AA batteries which not only makes them much heavier than the Amp 3.5, but also more expensive to operate. Powered by just (4) x AAA batteries, this little torch is much lighter than it's larger cousins and costs much less to operate. And of course there's the fabled Princeton Tec warranty that I've experienced as mostly painless. All in all this is my new go-to handheld light. I'm planning to purchase a couple more as long as the price holds out and I would recommend you do too!

Looks like quality but I purchased a used item and it didn't work.
It would be great if it worked....nice compact size, appears well made. Waterproof, not metal, light weight. Four AAA cells give it long life. I purchased it used from Amazon Warehouse. I got what I paid for unfortunately. It was only $9 vs $27 but it didn't work - batteries tested fine and no apparent cause. I suspect Amazon never tested it. I returned it and am buying another one from a non-Amazon seller. Hoping the next one will work...Update 2/14/19: Ugh. Second unit also defective. This one was, in a way, worse: the light would turn on about once every 20 tries. Returned that one too, and I emailed Princetontec directly for an explanation. Poor switch design?

Love this light!
Very bright white light from this little gem of a flash light. Princeton Tec has always been reliable for me and this one continues that tradition. It holds 4 AAA batteries inside of it and my only complaint arises from this. It can be very difficult to change out batteries in the darkness since it involves some fumbling around to insert the batteries into the compartment. There's two very small marking of either a + or - inside the compartment which is very difficult to see in the night. Other than that, it's straight forward to use with a single button that cycles through the modes. Low, high and off.Easy! The lens keeps most of the light beam in the middle with some diffusion to light up a larger area. Plenty of lumens and well made out of plastic and rubber. Definitely a good flashlight for bad weather conditions and runs for a long time.

Good torch overall. Minor complaints, but nothing that would prevent me purchasing again.
Seems to work as expected upon initial trial. Nice torch overall, although it would have been preferable had a lanyard been included. Battery installation as indicated elsewhere is not the easiest, but it's not too difficult either.I've owned several Princeton Tec LED torches over the years, most of which you had to twist the end to turn on and off. This seemed to cause them to become unreliable after a prolonged period of use(Several months of daily use). The button on this one should be an improvement in that regard I believe.Edit: After quite a bit of use, it's worth noting that this torch goes through batteries quickly.

Great little light, but quality control issues in manufacture.
I LOVE these little lights - so powerful, in such a compact hand-held unit! Too bad Princeton Tec can't get it together to manufacture a reliable product. I purchased 6, and 2 didn't work at all. I returned them through Amazon and received two new ones, one of which had a dim lamp head - so I am returning that one for replacement. We'll see if they can provide a working light this time...

Not as shown....
I ordered this product in a bright yellow/black so my grandson could find it in his backpack at scout camp.

Turns on accidentally and runs down the batteries
I have had several Princeton Tec flashlights over the years of the screw-the-lens-to-turn-on type. They work great and last for years as standby flashlights in a bedroom drawer or a car's glove compartment. However, I have found this new model with the on-off button to be a very poor design. It does not take much pressure to turn the light on, so if you leave it in the glove compartment of a car or in a dresser or desk drawer, it will be turned on by rattling around and bumping into other things. This might also happen if you carry it in a pocket with change, keys, etc. The batteries run down quickly and it won't work when you need it. The only reliable way I can keep one usable is to place it lens down on a shelf where it won't be touched until you are ready to use it. Also, getting the batteries installed correctly is a first class pain, unlike the other Princeton Tec design.
