Decent budget ceramic blade
For a budget-level ceramic knife, I'm actually pretty pleased. However, you need to understand what you're buying and use it properly; ceramic knives have pros and cons like everything else.Overall: I'm pleased with this knife. It's everything I would expect out of a ceramic blade at this price point, and it's a great addition to my kitchen. It certainly will never replace my steel knives, but I tend to grab it first for thin onion slices or quick prep-work.Pros:-Comfortably shaped handle that both myself (small hands) and my husband (larger hands) can control well-Handle is slightly grippy-Dark color blade looks nice-Very lightweight-Relatively sharp blade that does not need sharpening nearly as often as steel-Doesn't carry flavors, just a quick rinse between foods is all you need if you're prepping multiple things (Unless it's raw meat, obviously)-Excellent for cutting fruits and most vegetables-Food doesn't stick to the blade as much as it does to metal-Won't ever rustCons:-Not as sharp as a properly honed steel knife, and I don't ever expect I'd be able to get this blade as sharp as my Wustofs- Not as sharp as some more expensive ceramic blades I've used- Fragile. Ceramic is strong, don't get me wrong, but force at the wrong angle on a hard object WILL break or chip the blade of a ceramic knife. You need to be conscious of the surface you're cutting on, and not use this knife for things like frozen foods, raw gourds, or meat with bones in it- You're better off not sharpening a ceramic blade at home, but if you do you'll need special equipmentElaborating on the sharpening briefly... even ceramic knives do get dull eventually. The idea that they "never need sharpened" is incorrect and if you expect that you will be disappointed. However, they don't need sharpening nearly as often as metal. Many companies will sharpen their ceramic knives for a fee if you send them back. Mine was actually missing the booklet so I'm not sure if Feinzer offers that service or not.If you choose to sharpen it yourself, you will need special equipment made for ceramic knives, and you'll want to examine it very carefully afterward. Using the wrong equipment or technique can leave an uneven blade and can even leave weak spots on the blade edge that can be more likely to chip off while you're using it. You might not even notice small chips, but if those end up in your food without you noticing, well... that's not really ideal.I received a discount on this item for review purposes. A lovely ceramic knife!
This is a gorgeous knife! I've had ceramic knives in the past, but they were always light in color and ended up getting stained before I had used them very long. This knife comes in a very nice presentation box, and it would make a lovely gift. Ceramic knives are great to use when cutting fruits and veggies, and this one is no exception. The knife seems to be well made, and I'm pretty sure it will last for quite some time. I didn't have any issues at all with the sharpness of this knife. It will cut through a potato like butter! The 6 inch blade on this knife makes it perfect for just about anything you can throw at it. I received this product at a reduced price in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. I would definitely recommend this knife to family and friends!

FEINZER Ceramic Chef's Universal knife. Perfect!
The media could not be loaded. I have several ceramic knives that are impressive in their own right and this FEINZER Ceramic Chef's Universal knife is no exception. If you have never had one and are in the market for one I can highly recommend this one. Ceramic knives are made from Zirconium Dioxide. WHen this is formed into a blade it is a very very dense material. No pores where bacteria can hide. Also ceramic knives are chemically inert, and that they're not supposed to react with your food. There are independent tests showing an apple being cut with a steel knife and one with a ceramic knife. After 10 hours of setting out, the steel knife cut apple was brown from oxidation while the ceramic knife cut apple was barely starting to change. So you dont have to worry about pre cutting your fruits for a get together. The dense material is perfect for cutting fruits and veggies..paper thin even. This thing will hold an amazing edge as long as you follow a few rules. Don't store it with your steel knives, they can chip these. Don't cut frozen foods or bones..it will chip the knife. Only use a wooden or plastic cutting board. Pretty easy things to not do and it will save your blade. I would also recommend you purchase a knife sharpener that is only for ceramic knives. Actually the one I have does steel and ceramic and was under 10 bucks here on amazon. Over time you can start to see micro abrasions on the blade..the ceramic knife sharpener will take those out. This comes with a razor sharp edge already on it. Sharper than most of my steel knives I have honed for hours getting a perfect edge on. This knife has a nice weight to it for a 6 inch knife...and the handle is plenty hefty for a good grip. From the presentation box to the knife itself I was super impressed with this FEINZER Ceramic Chef's Universal knife. a Very Very High 5 star review from me. While steel knives have their place in the kitchen this is perfect for your fruits and veggies..even cutting those awesome steaks you just grilled. Just be careful of those bones. The price is spot for a well built ceramic knife. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the comments. I will respond. If you found my review helpful, let me know.
