A Walking Guide to York's City Walls

Bought for my son who lives locally, he really enjoys looking for the different features highlighted in the book. Dropped one star because it would be nice to have colour pictures, but really well worth buying.

Super book, I got the Kindle version as I’ve lived in York all my life and thought I knew it all! Wrong!, book is well laid out and I learned quite a lot of history and bits to see I’d missed. Also good to be able to picture places I ‘knew’ already

Either read it before you visit York, or it is just the right size to take with you as you walk round the 2 miles of Yorks history on top of the medaeval walls.Detailed maps and pictures help you to understand where you are, what to look for, and why things appear the way they do.The complete wall walk is split into thirteen sections - each one written in a Basics, Details, Views, Off trail extras, Stories style and its quite easy to follow. There is also a short section on the history of the walls, an appendix covering various topics, a timeline and a glossary.See York from a new angle and make sure you don't miss what others walk straight past. Suitable for both visitors and York residents - or just as a reminder of a pleasant two mile walk through history and around one of the beautiful cities of the UK.
