art reference book
An outstanding reference for the serious artist. I've been doing art as a sideline since grade school, and I haven't seen a reference as good as this before. It's in extremely high definition and you can enlarge the shots to an amazing degree. Each pose can be viewed from numerous angles, and there's an excellent variety of body types and poses, and they're all well lit. There's no replacing drawing or painting the actual model, but if you can't afford modeling fees this is a good substitute.Buy it; you won't regret it.

An excellent reference book
If you are an artist(painter, sculptor, etc.) and you just can't afford live models this is a great book. Good poses, good lighting, a most important good photography. Don't make the same mistake I did, buy the hard cover with the cd-rom, it is only a couple dollars more and the hardcover will last far longer the constant opening and closing as you use it, plus the disc has images in far more detail and angles. Buy it with confidence.

Change of heart
I bought this book months ago. When I first opened it I was quite disappointed because, as previously mentioned, some of the models do not have inspiring bodies at all. I do not expect nor want skinny models - those are useless. I wish for "plush" female bodies NOT michelin waist, or doughy types. Also, I am interested only in female figurative sculpture and the book has males and couples. I thought the poses were not very inspiring either and I agree with someone's comment about the weird poses with corny props (totally useless)However, now I am finally getting a return on my investment. The CD-ROm is really extremely useful as there are many pictures (360 degree plus from above) of the same pose. So, I use the CD to simulate a real session with a life model. I use my Mac Notebook to go throug the pictures as we do when we move a life model on the "lazy susan." I zoom when I work on some specific area. This works really well and I am extremely pleased. As to the poses, use it as a starter and then make some modifications of course.Give it a try, it is worth it if one use it appropiately.

Great Reference Book
As I'm learning art, this book was excellent to help study the human body. "Blocking" the human body for the sake of cartoons is incredibly easy when you have models to use. The models are shown in a variety of positions, and some positions have several different angles so you can really get a sense of how the body moves and is connected.

Better then online images but...
While I was in art school (online-Art Academy University) I was provided figure study images I was required to draw from of really poor quality. I purchased this book as a substitute for those online images. It worked for me but in the end I ended up creating my own library of high quality figure study nudes. Again, good to work from and if you need a source to draw on worth the money. It is still a part of my library along with my own 360 degree high res images.

Beautiful models, interesting poses
This book provides a very handy reference for artists. The models are all "real" looking people as opposed to the more "artificial" looking models one might find in magazines. There are many very interesting and sometimes challenging poses for each of the models in the book, and each pose is presented from several angles. If you're looking for a reference book for the human figure, this is a great buy!

Using A Book In Place of a Model Just Doesn't Work
Unfortunately not that useful- even for general practice; and less so if you have a specific project in mind. Because unlke with working with a live model- in a book you don't get to pick the pose- the lighting- the shading- the props- or anything else really. And obviously the book is flat so you don't get a sense of the correct lighting as you would if it were reflecting off a real person. In short this book is just not effective either for practice in drawing the figure or doing your own projects. There's really no substitute for drawing/painting a real model. If you work from a book youre using someone elses creative choices and not your own. Which is the exact opposite of what you want.

Great Nude Photos. Excellent models.
The photos in the DVD are really handy for me to view and put into the files I created for some purposes. The book is a convenient accompany for me to carry around, read the descriptions, and learn the different postures. They are really good.

Excellent
Excellent en tant qu'outil proprement parlé, en effet les modèles présentés sous tous les angles permettent la visualisation du corps humain, ce qui est idéal pour la sculpture, peinture, etc.....

great resource
I bought this as I'd pretty much exhausted the virtual pose books (also well worth buying) not really expecting it to be as good. In fact, in some ways it's actually better. The poses, like the VP ones, are viewable from all round (not quite 360 degrees in this book, it's more a progression of photos around the model. The image jumps between pictures rather than smoothly turns round. On the other hand, they are taken from higher and lower angles so you get different views to draw from.)and they are also higher definition than the VP ones. There's a reasonable selection of body types for the female models, though they tend towards the slim and people annoyed at the blurring of the female images in VP will be pleased to note it doesn't occur on these pictures. If I have any crititcism it would be that they could have had a few more non-caucasion models and possibly more useful poses, but if you want to practice your life drawing and there aren't any classes around, then this book or the Virtual Pose series are a good alternative.
