Excellent speaker
We bought 4 of them plus the subwoofer. They provide wonderful sound and plenty of it. We also bought the MX12xuk mixer. You can use as monitor/main combo, or any other configuration your situation may call for. High quality and great sound.

My “Super basic use” review!
This is my first speaker ever. I just needed an acoustic/mic set up so I was lookin lower budget. So for anyone in my situation read on! Looking up an down decent brands I found this low budget Yamaha to be the best among low budget powered speakers based purely off reviews and forums. I only bought one. If you need somethin extremely bass-ey you’re gonna need a sub. Which is kinda obvious but I thought I’d say it. But! I use a Taylor acoustic mainly.. with the guitars own EQ if I leave the bass normal the low E(E2) sounds great. If I turn the bass knob up on the guitar the speaker will rumble and rattle everything. Not chest thumping but very deep and very smooth. The highs on the guitar with the volume all the way up on the speaker and my guitar are clean and precise and a bit warm so it’s not ear piercing an harsh by any means. A nice keyboard would sound fantastic.. I can overpower our drummer with volume, not drown out but definitely get up higher then him. Especially with vocals which I use a ShureSM58 for anyone who cares. I have pierced my own ears with the mic and this speaker though haha. And it still didn’t clip. That’s in a garage band setting too with loud acoustics goin on. We opened the garage up and walked about 100 ft away and the speaker still sounded super clear and loud. I could’ve definitely walked 4-500 ft away and heard it just fine. Although that’s with no crowd or noise in between.. so take that for what it’s worth. Living on 1-2 acre properties I know my neighbors can definitely hear it with the garage open. So for my super basic use of this speaker I’m incredibly happy with it. It’s more expensive but nothing about it has disappointed me at this point. From its sound/volume to its design/weight. I’ve only used the back inputs and adjustability it has and my acoustics bass/treble EQ so I’ve done nothing fancy with the sound here and have definitely not stress tested it(except with the mic that one time which I mentioned above- in which it passed). I highly recommend this though. For anyone who’s serious about sound quality but on a budget this thing won’t disappoint.

Yamaha DR12 Active Speakers
These speakers are crisp and clean and for someone like myself who plays out often the fact that there’s lightweight makes a big difference Yamaha always delivers quality product and Sweetwater in cooperation with the manufacturer always delivers quality service. Thank you for all that you do. TK

Another awesome Yamaha product!
This speaker, despite its small frame, puts out HUGE sound! Not just loud, but accurate, clear, and punchy audio! The unit is fairly lightweight, but feels solid and durable. The two-input mixer section on the back is super handy and is compatible with XLR, 1/4", and RCA connections, which is something you don't see in most units of this price. The 7-year manufacturer warranty is a real bonus, as I recently had a speaker from a lesser brand quit on me after 2.5 years. Vocals are pristine and I feel that this speaker would perform well as a monitor for live performance, or as a pair of main speakers for smaller crowds of 100-200 people when paired with a sub. It has great bass response for a 12" when on the FOH/Main setting, but it will not produce heavy hitting lows required for the dancefloor. My DJ company will be using this speaker as a monitor until we purchase the 10" model, as the 12" is a lot of sound for a monitor. We then plan to use a pair of 12s as main speakers with a sub at a 209 person capacity lounge. If you are planning on using a pair of these without a sub, you would be better off going with the 15" model. The unit was packaged remarkably well and arrived without so much as a scuff on the box!

Not as expected
i purchased one of these to use as an FR-FR speaker for my guitar pedalboard with amp/cab modeling, to use while playing live with my band. On paper, it fits the bill perfectly for power and features. The issue I had is that certain sounds would distort badly when volume was turned up to keep up with an acoustic (not amplified) drumset. My pedalboard outputs line level and I have high pass filters to avoid subsonic noise, so i know it wasn't that. Either the item I got was defective, or 1000W is not a real spec. For reference my old 200W analog bass amp can get louder without distorting.

Impressive sound
Update 7/2024 : 4 years later still working as new. Makes you sound like a professional singer lol. Great build quality and crisp sound that Yamaha is known for. I also have a Yamaha surround speakers and receiver set from 20 years ago that's still kicking. Build quality from Yamaha is fantastic. Only had it for a week, but so far very impressed. I use mainly for karaoke, but also to listen to music from my phone. It's definitely more power than I would ever need, but it's nice to know I could crank it up during house parties. Went with Yamaha because of their 7 year warranty and their reputation of pro audio. Considered other models from Alto, JBL, EV, but went back to these knowing they will last.

Love these!!
IT'S A YAMAHA!!! What else is there to say?? Reason I went with this speaker is because a friend of mind who's a full time musician playing gig daily, indoor and outdoors, has a set of these. The sound he gets out of them is amazing! I don't crank mine up as much nor as frequent but they sound great! Nice clear sound and powerful sound! I really want to get a second pair but can't justify the purchase yet..

Si funciona!!!
El producto es muy bueno, fácil de llevar, fácil de conectar y modificar los sonidos en base a las necesidades. Hace falta incluir una bolsa protectora de viaje porque yo lo transporto de un lado a otro y se raya el altavoz
