Great rigging knife
For me, this is perfect rigging knife. It checks all the boxes and will serve me well. I did remove the belt clip. I suppose it's a handy feature, although the knife would be better served with a stamped bale that matches the quality its quality and foget the belt clip. Thank you

Dangerous
What good is a locking knife if the lock does not hold? Iโve been using this same model knife for 20+ years working on boats. I break them or the ocean eats them, but they used to be great knives. The bails have always been useless, but I keep mine in my pocket, so no worries. This is the second of these knives purchased in the last week where the locking mechanism doesnโt hold. If the liner lock doesnโt hold it is plain dangerous. This was my last try with myerchin.

Great tool for working on the boat!
I work on the local commuter ferry and have always carried (what I thought was) a good knife. A few months back we had an incident where I needed to cut a 1.5" line. It was not a life or death situation by any means but it did open my eyes to how long my other blade took to cut through the line. I was thinking if it was a life-safety situation it was unacceptable. This "Myerchin Gen 2 Captain Pro knife is substantially faster cutting line. The quality is great! I did read another review where they complained about the strength of the attachment point for a lanyard and I guess I see their point. It could be more durable. Myself I don't use a lanyard so it does not concern me. I do see the occasional benefit of a lanyard but there are also dangers to having a tool attached to your person. Regardless of that point...I really like the knife.

The bail is useless.
I bought one of these to replace an earlier version that was lost or stolen. The blade and marlinspike are the expected high Myerchin quality. The bail is simply junk. If you have a rigger's knife for anything more than a fashion statement, you carry it on a lanyard, it works a lot, and the bail has a hard life. The predecessor model had a sturdy stamped steel bail that held up. This version has a wire bail that failed under my not very demanding use in a couple of weeks. I sent it back. I found a vintage Case that is actually a substantial knife..
