Interesting
This could explain climate change we are facing now.

Quite Disappointing
For context: I'm a physical science teacher who has passionately followed developments in climate science for two decades. My educated guess is that there will be another Ice Age within the next few centuries or millennia at the latest, orders of magnitude worse for all living things than the most paranoid horrors of steamy sea level rise instilled into children's minds by Al Gore, just before he bought a 9-million-dollar mansion on the California Coast.I bought this book based on all previous (3) reviewers rating it as a 5. I read it cover to cover - not because it was enthralling, as it turns out, but because I wanted to give it a fair chance before reviewing it.It is not at all a serious, scientific work. It is, in my opinion, a draft of a literature review for an undergrad thesis. It pains me to say this, as the author has made a compassionate effort toward an important goal. The effort Casey has made elevates my rating to a 3; the writing itself I would rate significantly lower. At times I wondered if it was a hoax, produced by AGW activists.Casey spends pages describing the thoughts and feelings he had when he made his "discovery," and the implications of his "research findings," yet the description of his theory is a list of seven brief statements regarding the fact that there are solar cycles. Chapters 4 and 5 present some science facts in support the claim that Earth will be cooling, not warming, over the next few decades. However, nowhere in the book does Casey show how he arrived at his conclusions. We are left to trust that somewhere in the list of seven points there lays a theory robust enough to accurately predict future cycles of cooling and warming for the next two centuries, that Casey knows what it is, and there is some reason for keeping it a secret. If you're used to reading about climate science in journals, familiar with the level of posts at WUWT, and impressed by the painstakingly detailed journalism Montford (2010) presents in The Hockey Stick Illusion, you will be sorely disappointed in this book.

My kind of book
I really like this book and the easy-going yet "technical enough" style in which it's written. No reader would get lost or bogged down in technical information but they most definitely would get the education they need to forever relax about the realities of ANY threat of the Earth being cooked by anthropogenic "global warming" (AGW).Conversely, the harsh realities it conveys about the extremely high likelihood of a dramatically cooling climate - caused by predictable, natural, and anticipated solar cycles - may be alarming for some. I knew about all of this from having done my own climate research on the internet over the years. What I'd arrived at through my own independent study was essentially what's included quite concisely in this book.I bought the book to share with others who may be caught up in the foundering and, I believe, malicious "AGW scam" that's still at work upon the globe. This book will, at the very least, give serious pause to current AGW 'believers" and force them to acknowledge the increasing impact of COLD we are witnessing worldwide.Mankind faces far greater danger from cold than heat. Fact is, mankind and nature prosper during warm periods and die-off from cold. What grows on an ice-pack or a glacier? We all need to be wide awake to THAT reality but, sadly, far too many are still drinking the AGW kool-aid that pervades the mass media and academic (grant-seeking) machinery. This book is a must-read for all responsible thinkers. Buy it so you, too, can KNOW what's really going on with both weather and climate and, importantly, what's the primary driver of ALL climatic changes. Hint: it ain't carbon.

THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ
It is widely believed that "greenhouse gases" are the cause of global warming, and the alarming idea that rising sea levels will destroy much of the planet. But is that theory true? It is true that in recent decades global temperatures have been quite high. But what is driving that trend? Is it "greenhouse gas emissions"? Or something else? Another question is ..... is that warming trend reversible? And if it is reversible, what would be the "driver" of THAT trend? According to Casey, a world renowned author who has worked closely with the U.S. Government and The N.A.S.A. Space Agency (read credentials), it is not mankind who drives global climate .... it is the SUN. And it has been this way from the beginning. Greenhouse gases, a.k.a. our carbon footprint, has accomplished something rather spectacular, however. Pollution! The planet is polluted due to the great legacy we have left it with our grim factories chugging out thick smoke..... but this is NOT what drives global climate, according to Casey. If you want to read a book that will enlighten you to the real truth behind global warming .... and cooling ..... then you should read COLD SUN. God set this universe in order at creation, and there are forces that regulate solar activity and climate that are well beyond man's reach. Read the book. Learn for yourself what's going on instead of assuming the media is giving you all the facts.

Poorly written
I gave this book 4 stars because it has a very important message, that we will be entering a period of global cooling over the next few years.I wish the book had been written by a professional author, as it was almost unreadable.I was most disappointed by the book, too much padding. The whole book tries to convince one, in an incoherent way, that global cooling is occurring.I was looking for a book which explained some of the consequences of the sun's hibernation; affect on monsoons, gulf streams, weather patterns in the Maunder minimum etc… This was covered in Chapter Six of the book, a total of 3 pages.I read this book in 20 minutes, and wish i hadn't wasted so much of my time.

If you want to know what is so wrong with global warming ...
If you want to know what is so horribly wrong with man-made global warming, then this book is must-read. The Earth receives all its heat energy from a single source that is hundred million miles away, the Sun and therefore if we want to understand temperature patterns observed on our planet, we must understand temperature patterns of the source of that heat, that of the Sun. John Casey traces the activity of the Sun through the history and attempts to correlate it to the warming/cooling periods observed on the Earth. He was the first one to predict back in 2007 that we will start to experience much colder winters and wet weather 3-4 years later and that trend is to continue for another 20-30 years. And so far, he was right.

It's easy to read
I don't believe in the human caused global warming, but do agree that there is climate change. This book explains Casey's point of view very well. It's easy to read, with a sufficient number of charts and graphs to further explain his theory. I read as much as I can in support of both sides of the climate change debate and this book is yet another arrow in my informational quiver.
