The outside measurement on mine is a smidge more than 1-3/4". **Q: Considering I will remove the notepad, up to how many plastic protector sleeves can it hold?** A: It depends on how thick the plastic protectors are. The space inside the portfolio is approximately 2 inches. If you binder is not completely stuffed with paper, you shouldn't have a problem. the edges of the protector does come right to the zipper. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ THIS HAS THE BEST 3 RING BINDING PIECE IN IT -- CAN HOLD A LOT OF PAGES; WELL CONSTRUCTED *by M***. on January 17, 2024* I Bought my first one of these binders in black, and it works beautifully! I wanted to create my own annual tracking binder which includes my goals, plans, journal, calendar, Today Sheets, etc., there are quite a few tabs in mine -- the accessory slots are for credit cards, at least the small ones, and the larger clear ID slot for either an id, or business cards. I don't use most of the slots because they aren't necessary for me personally. I do use the slots for pens, and the zippered pocket when I am taking along a USB or two to use. It will also hold my iPad if I need to take it along, which is very convenient. I know someone had the stitching break apart trying to put business cards in the credit card slot -- that's unfortunate, but I think it is clear they are meant for credit card thickness, not a stack of business cards. The workmanship on the binder is great, have not experienced any wear, or scratches, or anything coming apart. It is perfect for daily use, and I have had mine for a year. I bought this one in particular because it had the largest capacity for papers in the ring binder. It looks professional quality, and I like that as well. Great when I am taking it along somewhere because it looks expensive and stylish, but was not expensive. I am ordering a burgundy one for this year -- would love to see one in a dark blue/navy color -- and one in a pretty tan Natural, or Whiskey Cordovan color. Using for estate planning. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Needs to be about 1/4 to 1/2" wider. *by S***N on January 9, 2022* I like the finish of this binder but I think it needs to be made a 1/2" wider. I bought this binder to hold all of my certifications which are on 8-1/2 x 11" card stock and I had placed them in some Avery 3-ring binder clear sheet protectors for letter size documents. I also have some Avery 3-ring trading card holders and business card holders for 3-ring as well (about 15 sheet protectors total) When I now close the binder and zip up the side, the edges of the sheet protectors touch the zipper and push it out past the vinyl edge when fully zipped up.
