Punchy for such a small unit...
...just like my wife :PI'm always amazed by how much punch and middle & bass these small units have these days. If, like me, you grew up when transistor radios were state-of-the-art, you'll know perfectly well the meaning of the word "tinny". This unit has none of that. It's a perfectly decent sound.Radio reception is very good, although it struggled with some stations once I actually put it in the shower. But that really isn't anything to do with the unit itself. My shower room does seem to be a bit lead-lined, whatever type of signal I'm trying to get, whether it's radio, bluetooth, or internet via my phone company.Setup was relatively painless, although others have been easier.I definitely suggest working through the little booklet in the order in which it's printed: I jumped straight to setting the clock and then setting the radio, and I got a little bit unsure what I supposed to do. Having looked back at the booklet, I think it would have been better to show a little patience as it's hardly War and Peace. It's very good at automatically searching for radio stations and setting the presets.Be aware that a short press on the power button will delete the preset, whilst a long-press will power off the unit.Personally, I think this should be the other way round. For some reason, I wasn't consulted though, so we're stuck with it. It does mean though that if you're less than emphatic when you have wet hands and intend it to be a long press, you're going to delete the station you're currently tuned to :DBluetooth pairing with my phone was easy and Spotify was doing it's thing within seconds. I may need to have my phone just outside the shower room door when it's shut, but again that's down to my shower room not the unit.As usual, I tested it [for you] with my go-to track on these occasions, Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me", 2017 remastered version. Punch, bass and general listenability was very good. However, the top end was indistinct. If you had to transcribe the lyrics of that particular track, you'd get an F-. You're really going to have to know your Def Leppard if you want to singalong with this one.Having said that, Khachaturian's Adagio from Spartacus (The Onedin Line to you and me) sounded great - I was going to post a video but I switched from Heart FM to Classic FM just as the music was building to the climactic big theme, and being a musician I just couldn't bring myself to interrupt it; as a result, the video ended up at 136Mb; so I've kept it from you. It was very good though, take my word for it.Also, pop music on Heart FM, with it's less dense sounds [than Def Leppard], sounded just fine and vocals were clear.I would definitely recommend to family and friends alike. You may have noticed I have a rather eclectic taste in music, which is perhaps surprising as, when I was a stage musician, I was known for one particular genre. If you'd like to know just how varied my musical tastes are, check out my Spotify playlist "Eclectic Shuffle", but definitely have it on Shuffle Play; it's not designed to be played in playlist order, which would be rather tedious; much too samey, samey :D

A nice sounding, loud shower speaker with plenty of functions
After testing out this product multiple times including a test of how waterproof and loud this speaker is, I can safely say it was a great purchase. The sound quality is great considering it's pretty much inside an echo chamber with lots of other noise so no complaints there. Sticks to the wall securely but isn't impossible to pull off or move when desired. Pretty lightweight and portable so can be moved around and taken about with ease. The speaker itself is very well protected and can easily survive a fair few drops onto a hard shower floor! The option for both bluetooth and radio is also pretty cool as I dont always think to bring my phone into the bathroom with me when having a shower, so I still get to listen to some music. The speaker has a nice long battery life and a rubber port protector to stop water getting into the charging area. It also has the option to skip songs, change volume, change modes, answer calls and pause or turn off the music.Pros:-can go very loud-portable-strong-good value for money-multiple functions-waterproof-good sound quality-sticks nicely to the wallCons:-arrived slightly scratched-speaker is on the back-radio signal isnt fantasticOverall a great value shower speaker and one that's used by the entire family!!If you found this review helpful, please press the "I found this review helpful" button so more people can be helped by this review.

Good value for money, good sound, moderate radio reception, a few design flaws
You know how when you use a device, you're not an expert on its function, but you reckon you could have designed it better than the so-called 'experts' who made it? The toaster that either turns bread into bread or into charcoal; the remote control that has symbols on buttons that don't mean anything at all; the ice dispenser that flings ice cubes past your glass and onto the floor? This is a bit like that. The good: Sound quality is great, with some bass and good volume for such a small unit. The battery lasts well - used daily as a radio in the bathroom for perhaps 15 minutes a day the battery lasted around five weeks before it needed a charge. Bluetooth connects well. The OK: Radio reception is patchy. It has no external aerial, and is quite sensitive to where you place it. In my enclosed upstairs shower I can get around ten FM stations, although it is very sensitive to where you put it in the room, and on bad weather days there can be quite some hiss picked up.The Idiotic: The user interface, it seems, could have been better designed by a rock. Some devices manage quite well with just two or three buttons, which reduces the build cost but requires some clever UI design. The makers of this device stumped up for six whole buttons so you would have thought the user experience would be quite streamlined and natural. But no. Press Play for slightly too long and it scans and re-programmes all of your radio channels. Release the power button too quickly when turning the device off and it erases the current radio channel that you were listening to. Move to the next radio preset? Press "Play". Go back to the previous radio preset? You can't! You have to press Play over and over again to loop through all of the channels before you get back to the one you want. Turn the device off and on again later, and it switches back to Bluetooth mode even if you like listening to the radio and left it on that channel last time. These aren't glitches - these are *by design* and explained in the manual. It's crazy, really, and takes some getting used to. What are surely the most common buttons that will be used? Power, volume up/down, and forward/back (for radio stations on Bluetooth tracks), perhaps? Why these aren't the default button operations, with long-presses and the sixth button for all the lesser-used things like changing mode, etc., I really don't know. But, overall, it was really quite cheap, has good sound quality, good Bluetooth connectivity, and works OK as a radio, plus has a clock and long battery life, so it's a good purchase if you are prepared to put up with the below-par user interface.EDIT March 2022: I'm still using this daily, 2.5 years later, and sometimes running it longer than 15 minutes a day as I now tend to leave it on to listen as I get dressed and mooch around. I said before that the sound quality and volume were good, and they still are. Showers can be noisy places and sometimes you can miss some words from the news, as others have noted, but it goes loud enough that I can find it almost painful at full volume when in the shower enclosure, so I reaffirm that it is plenty loud enough. Since writing my original review I've now sometimes also used it for Bluetooth, and this also works very well, again with good sound quality. I'm beginning to wonder if the battery isn't lasting quite as well as it did when new but it still goes several weeks between charges. I've learnt with muscle memory the main features the buttons operate, but the user interface is still very poorly designed. Everything works, but you just need to discover and memorise the odd UI choices the designers made.[June 2023] Nearly four years later and this is still going strong, lasting at least a month between charges when used for an hour or so each morning. The UI is still unintuitive, but the Bluetooth works really well, the volume is good, and the radio works well as long as you position it carefully so it can get enough signal.
