I have a fat cat that likes to sleep on anything I work on. Has anyone had experiences with animals/heavy objects and this table breaking on them??

My cat is sleeping on it sometimes ( my cat is not that fat tho) i think this desk is enough strong to handle a fat cat !

How stable is this on an uneven surface like a bed?

Depends how sturdy your bed it. I use it on my bed and my bed is super soft so I don’t place any liquids in the cup holder - instead I use the cup holder as a drawer for pends and note cards. But it as sturdy as any object with 4 legs can get, all depends on the surface your placing it on

Can you really sit cross legged under this? I cannot sit with my legs straight out in front of me.

I just measured my legs while sitting cross legged and my sitting measures at 28 so it would work for me. I recommend you do the same. I am a 5'5 200 lb VERY thick thighed girl so if you're smaller than me it should definitely work for you too!

Would I be able to fold this up and still use it as a lap desk- just across my recliner and sitting?

You can fold the legs but I don't know if that will work, there's a drawer and accessories stored underneath, so that might be uncomfortable.
