CDM Ground Coffee & Chicory Regular Grind, 13oz Bag (Pack of 4)

Coffee tastes better than any other coffee I’ve tried. The chicory makes all the difference.

This coffee with chicory is a great budget alternative to Cafe du Monde, but it is not the same.As background, I brew my coffees in a Nespresso Vertuo reusing prefilled pods. For chickory, I use pods from Starbucks Verona. Nespresso brew style changes based on the pod's barcode, and the Verona has three spin levels giving a strong brew and a tall, foamy head.In comparrision with Cafe du Monde, CDM is visually less appealing. The grounds are larger and less consistant in size. There is more stick-like and chaf-like material--it resembles pipe tobacco. The stick like material makes no major difference, but teh chaf-like material will cling to tools and make for more cleanup. If you tamp your grounds, the larger grind will not compress as well.As for brewing and flavor, CDM brews richly and forms a tall, thickly foamed head, but the head is lighter in color than Cafe du Monde. Both coffees have rich, bold flavor and are nearly opaque in a clear cup. Both are best with LOTS of cream ( I like 4 to 6 ounces in 8 ounces of brew). CDM makes a smoother cup, but there are more of the chocalate notes in the Cafe du Monde.If cost is the primary factor, buy CDM and you will get a great cup of smooth coffee. If your crave the chocolately notes, spend a bit more and get the Cafe du Monde.

this stuff so strong it doesnt even change color with cream. I like this coffee like i like my men...dark, strong .. no weak brown water over here... rumor is it can grow chest hair too...lol

This chicory coffee is very good. It is listed as a vacuum-packed, four-brick package. The vacuum seal was broken on one of the bricks and the coffee was loose. This diminishes the freshness.

Need a replacement because one of the bags was open

I had been buying coffee & chicory root separately to blend for a long time now...then I discovered that CDM has it conveniently blended for me! Great taste - and no, the chicory flavor is not overly apparent (though I personally like chicory alone, too!). It's a good way to cut back on the caffeine without going to decaf or cutting out coffee altogether.

Really good coffee

Much coarser than I expected. Makes a good cup but not as strong as finer grounds when using a moka pot.
