Me and My 18 inch Doll: Sew 20+ Matching Outfits, Accessories & Quilts for the Girl in Your Life

I heard about this book on American Patchwork and Quilting podcast interview with the author. I ordered it on Saturday, it arrived on Sunday and on Monday I have halfway sewn a dress out of it. My granddaughter went through and dog-eared the things she wanted—which was every page. The book is very well written with a lot of thought given to supplies and general skills. This book has something for every skill level but I really think even a beginner could sew every project in here with a little patience. The doll items work for American Girl dolls or any 18” doll. The girls clothing patterns are multi-sized ranging from 6-12. There is even a fabric suitcase for a girl and one for a doll (which my gdaughter has up next in the lineup). If you have sewn before and have general skills to use a machine, cut fabric to size and follow instructions you can make anything in this book. I hope the author has more books with girl and doll items to follow because this one is fantastic!

Bought this for my mother who has made clothes for 18" dolls for years. She found many new items to make (and not just clothes). She also enjoys just looking through the book for inspiration.

A little more variety in outfits would have been nice, but otherwise, a nice little book.

I was disappointed with this book. To make the little girls sun dress you had to draft the pattern. It is supposed to be for beginner sewers but who has a curved ruler when you’re a beginner.

Nice ideas for outfits, heavy on basic skills explanation that is unnecessary.

Thought there would b more patterns for matching clothes. Too many patterns for other items.

I have used and enjoyed all of Erin's pattern books for 18" dolls. This is no exception! Again, Erin has given us a wide variety of choices, with all the ideas geared to matching outfits or accessories for little girls and their 18" dolls. I loved the expanded sizes for girls; up to size 12! This book is also especially suited to those with an interest in quilting. It's extremely easy to download the patterns and instructions are clear and complete.
