A very basic 8-sheet strip shredder that can handle simple household shredding that doesn't involve the need for great confidentiality. Does the perfect job for the price and need. If you require greater confidentiality, then you are certainly looking at the wrong place and at the wrong item. You need would be met perfectly by the criss-cross or micro-cut shredders that cost a whopping Rs15,000 and above. If you want to shred old bills, letters, petrol pump receipts, ATM slips etc, then this is perfect for the job. And, it has the functionality to remove the jammed papers, can munch through, eight sheets of paper, a single credit card or CD/DVD without a burp. Though the waste receptacle is a bit flimsy and prone to breakage easily, the head is built well and runs well. It needs periodic oiling and care, to function without hiccups. If you are on a low budget and need a good shredder, then look no further and order on from Amazon immediately. I am not paid to rave about it or recommend it - though I wish I could've been an Amazon affiliated reviewer - I can easily suggest it for those who need one for their household purpose, instead of burning the heck outta their bills or tearing them by hand and ending up with paper cuts or fatigue.

The product is good and it does its job. Though it’s not a heavy-duty reader, and does have some limitations, it is expected for a small office and 🏠Home it is very suitable product.

Writing this review after a couple of days of use. The shredder performance is good and noise level is ok. Only inconvenience is with the Auto/Off/Reverse switch, while trying to switch off, most often the switch slides to Reverse mode causing the shredded paper to be pushed back up. Amazon Basics can think of a better switch design. Additionally they can add a locking mechanism to the extension bar, which slides out without any force, which is a bit inconvenient. Irrespective of the above two glitches/design flaws, the shredder is worth buying.

Good purchase for the price and it gets the job done

I received the product on Friday 4th October, 2019 Evening and found that the Invoice Hard Copy is my Statutory Requirement for Accounts Audit purpose so I immediately called Customer Care and spoke to your Mr Harshad and explained him my difficulty as I do not have a PC and a Printer also I cannot download the Invoice as there is no opotion for Invoice in the App so Mr Harshad consulted your Senior Executive and confirmed to me that a Replacement Order is being processed and that Hard Copy of the Invoice shall be duly enclosed with the Product that is Amazon Basic 8 Sheet Paper Shredder. Today i.e. on 5th October 2019 afternoon I received the Replacement but to my utter dismay and disappointment the Invoice was again not enclosed and I your delivery boy opened it in front of me and cnfirmed that the document was missing but he could not help as it was not his duty or responsibility. He suggested that I speak to Amazon Care Officer and I spoke and tried to explain them but each one responded and tried to tell how to download the Invoice on PC or Laptop but no one even after my best efforts to apprise them of difficulty at my end none was ready to consider my request and resolve my problem. Yesterday I had also requested Mr Harshad that I was expecting to receive many ordered items in a day or two and that I must get the Invoice mandatorily and he had promised to comply and that I would have no greivances or regrets for getting hard copies for all the products I have ordered. I received 2 more items today Taparia Voltage Tester and Vegetable and Fruit Cutter but am Sorry to say the Invoice copy was not provided. It is the Law of the Country that all purchases made from any Co or local Shop is obliged to give Invoice if the Customer demands it and none can deny it and this is the provision made by Consumers Guidance Society of India. Also the Vegetable Cutter received today was found to be defective and Amazon has taken my Complaint for a Replacement of the same product and it is Prepaid to you. I consider that Amazon is the World's No 1 Online Shopping Organisation and and if we are let down as a Customer does not look good so please take my suggestion and have an option while ordering whether Customer needs an invoice he or she can tick mark and the problem canbe resolved for ever. Please believe we Customers form a part of Amazon Family as we procure our day to day needs and items from Amazon and thus the mutually benefitting relationship must be kept intact under all circumstances. I write this review AFTER three months of using the AMAZON BASICS Paper Shredder Rs.2,749/-. It is TOTAL VALUE FOR MONEY. I have used it extensively (at HOME) to de-clutter tons of redundant documents, outdated documents and years of collected junk papers! This model of shredder: AMAZONBASICS worked smoothly, efficiently and without ANY problem. I highly recommend this particular model. (Last year, I had bought another model - and it conked out within 5 months. However, AMAZON gave me a FULL REFUND very efficiently for that previous model). This model is too good (AmazonBasics 8-sheet Strip Cut Paper with CD and Credit Card Shredder with 12-litre Waste Basket). Besides de-cluttering my house and getting rid of all the stacks of paper, old CDs, debit cards, etc. -- the FEELING of cleanliness and release of stress - is priceless. Just go for it.
