what is the best adhesive to use with these polypropylene spikes outdoors?

Is it possible to cut them to a desired length, and if so how easy is it to cut.

Yes these can be cut down. The stands just go on the ends and can be halved down too to make ends to go against the wall as they are only supplied double sided as a middle bracket. I just used a wood saw to carefully cut them down then sanded them a little to finish.

the tops of my wooden gates are only 5/8" thick - can i screw this into the gate either with posts or without - i have several i need to do - thanks

If your gate tops are really as narrow as 5/8" the strips would be far too wide to fasten on securely - sorry!
