Works great and not overpriced
Bought this to help identify a pipe leak in my sprinkler system that was damaged by previous owners.Used the extension rod and followed the track of the pipe sticking the rod into the ground below the sod level. Was able to find leak location to within a few inches along a 50’ section of pipe, in about 10 minutes. To my surprise it was not near where I thought it was, based on sound I heard echoing up a drain pipe to the gutters. Much faster and cheaper than hiring a locator with a GPR machine to map it out and “maybe” find where all the lines crossed, then take guesses on which was the broken intersection.Simple construction and the sound tunes appear easily changed if accidentally damaged.

Works like a charm
This tool will help you locate a faulty moving part really quickly. There's been a loud whine in my engine area for a while, I know its a pulley but which one? There's a pulley on everything that spins, the alternator, hvac compressor, idler pulley, tensioner pulley, power steering pump pulley and of course the main engine pulley. What this tool does is it helps you locate the actual one making noise without having to check manually, which means you would have to remove your serpentine belt and spin them all by hand and sometimes that noise only comes on at high revolutions, so that method is not always helpful. With this tool, you hear the faulty one really loud, you can miss it!

Maybe it was operator error?
This came with a short rod installed and a longer rod that supposedly could be added to the first to extend its reach. But nope, while the one rod was male threaded, there was no corresponding female place to insert it. So then I thought, maybe it was an either/or situation with the different length rods. Nope, while I was able to start unscrewing the installed rod, I turned and turned and turned without ever getting it freed from the plastic bulb it was inserted into. Perhaps, the plastic bulb is two parts and can be unscrewed to access its interior. Nope. I was afraid to put too much pressure on it for fear of breaking it.So I ended up using four small plastic cable ties and some Gorilla tape to connect the two. The thought occurs to me that perhaps a threaded female to female union was supposed to be included but if there was, I didn't find it.Pluses are that even with a wide head, it is not uncomfortable to wear. Also, it is very sensitive to sound.

This is Good For More Than Engines
This is a cheap yet Excellent product! I was at wits end trying to find a plumbing leak and this inexpensive scope helped me track it down. Put it on metal and you can hear anything moving or leaking. I was looking at devices (and plumbers) costing many times the money. This thing did the trick and I fixed the leak.
