All-grain revolution
I've been brewing with a home-made plastic mash tun, hot liquor tank and boiler with kettle elements for years, but decided to take the plunge and buy this unit. It's Excellent. It has many idiosyncrasies and the brewing process is very different. It's a little bit fiddly to program at first, but once you've got the hang of it, it's simple. Temperature control is spot on. The sparge process is a little strange as the bottom of the grain container is open, other than the mesh holding the grain in, so I was expecting low efficiency. That couldn't have been further from the truth, my extraction efficiency has increased massively, probably due to the recirculation pump, which continuously recirculates the wort through the mash grain bed. The recirculation process also delivers ultra-clear wort, with virtually no trub. I don't even stir/mix the grain bed after mashing any more and still get very good extraction - a colossal 87% efficiency with my last brew. It's still necessary to use a hot liquor tank to heat up the sparge water, but I do that on the gas hob with in a 33 l stainless steel pot with a compression tank connector and ball valve fitted (via Screwfix). The (manual) fly sparge process is a little quicker, it's all over in 30 mins. 30 litres is a practical maximum boil volume and it's necessary to keep an eye on the boil process;1.6kW output at 101 degrees Celsius works for me. The stainless steel is very easy to clean after a brewday. Does my beer taste better? Yes, definitely; probably because of the increased consistency, ultra clear wort and uniform controlled mash temps. Excellent value, highly recommended.

well made, easy to use
great step up for the 20 litre homebrewer. simple to use and set, watch the support for the inner mash bucket popping off !! and make sure the pump is washed through regularly to prevent sticking up.apart from that all good.

Great value
Overall I’m very impressed with what you get for the money. Much cheaper than the well known alternative but has most of the same features. Easy to use, feels well made and really has made brewing easier. The pump looks cheap but is effective and seems solid enough. The control panel takes a little getting use to but again is simple to operate once you understand the sequence you need to follow. Can take a while to reach target temperature but holds it well once it gets there. Worth every penny
