Placed dishwashing liquid on the openings and the boot slipped over where the shift sticks attach to the transmission easily without tearing any.

It probably fits a factory 5 speed 4x4 perfectly, I swapped a 5 speed into an automatic truck and I didn’t fit for me

I installed this boot on a 1990 Wrangler YJ. I couldn’t see why the Mopar part was so expensive and I saw cheaper ones than this. I figured it try the mid-range. It works and appears to be well made. The holes matched up fine for install. It is much stiffer than the OME part so I left it out in the sun to warm up a bit since it was a cool, Fall day. Install was a little struggle, but not more than expected considering the location on the floor between two seats and near the dash. The stiffness makes 2nd gear a bit more difficult and it can pop out of gear. I’m hoping that goes away with it being warmed by the engine and tranny along with time. I’ll update the review after a few months about whether it keeps popping 2nd or if it loosens up and works well.

If you have any type of lift on your Jeep, do not buy. 2nd gear is impossible, and 4th is tight. I had to cut this to get clearance for both gears. Reviews are typically mixed, but forums speak of the same issues. It's not just me... I believe it was a design issue because the original one had wear spots in these areas. 2 stars because of fitment.
