I wanted to use the Miracast feature to extend my laptop onto an external monitor wirelessly. Chromecast does not have interoperability with Miracast since they are competing technologies (Microsoft vs Google). Miracast is effectively dead and beaten. You can even mirror your whole desktop via Chromecast and Google Chrome using just builtin features. However, you cannot EXTEND your desktop with Google Chrome + Chromecast in Windows 10. Microsoft broke a workaround that people were using in Windows 7 and 8 of manually adding a fake/virtual external monitor. So anyway... that's my excuse for buying the cheap knock-off version.My first picture shows what you get in the box. The box has a picture of an actual Chromecast on it, by the way. I attached this to my external monitor and got no response. I attached it to my TV and got what you see in picture 2. The setup is real hacky. Windows wouldn't let me connect to its hotspot. My phone connected to the hotspot but you can see by the exclamation point (circled in red on picture 3) that android doesn't like hotspots that don't give you internet connectivity either.I attempted several times to change the resolution. Each time the device would reboot (screen blacks out for awhile and you have to reconnect to the hotspot again). Yet each time it was stuck at 1920x1080_60P. I gave it my WIFI password and it rebooted, showing it was now connected to my WIFI SSID. After many valiant attempts I gave up trying to cast to it from Windows 10. I didn't try Youtube or anything else because that wasn't my use case but maybe that's what the 5 star rating people use it for.I borrowed my roomate's Chromecast to compare. It immediately displayed on the same monitor that showed nothing from this product. Within a few minutes I was able to cast from my same Windows 10 laptop through Google Chrome. Of course Chromecast doesn't support Miracast though. I am returning this product and I ordered a HDMI cable. I'm giving up on the wireless idea.

User manual sucks. Can’t get it working so I will return it. I trashed it cause the line at Kohls would have taken a 1/2 hour for a $23 refund. I suggest checking the return policy for each item before purchasing as you may not want to wait in line at Kohls.

This is not a good WiFi screen mirroring option. It's difficult to connect to, sometimes my computer can't even find it. There are multiple spelling and grammar errors in the instructions, and not much helpful information. I am going to return mine.

This thing was honestly terrible I was super excited to receive it in the mail today only to be extremely disappointed I was able to get it working within 10 minutes and I was stoked until I actually started mirroring my phone and the video had all these dots everywhere and just ruined the movie just spend the extra 7 dollars and buy the actual chrome cast

Don't waste your money on this piece of crap. It doesn't mirror your screen it just works through apps, so you cannot watch exactly what's on ur phone. Junk!
