Why has it taken me so long to switch???
I'm in my mid-40s and now wonder why it took me so long to switch to a DE razor. I fell prey to the marketing machine and have been using cartridge razors since I started shaving. I believed they gave a closer shave with all those blades, resulted in less irritation/cuts and in general were more advanced. All of it is BS.Before I say more on DE shaving, this EJ razor is great. I don't have any experience with other DE razors, but my experience with this one has been great. So much so, I bought a second one for the gym. The only thing I might change is to lengthen the handle a bit more, but it isn't a real problem now.I was hesitant and even somewhat afraid to use a DE razor. I surely would slice myself up and go to work every day with bits of toilet paper stuck to my face. Not so. I switched over to DE about 2 months ago. My first few shaves were good, but not what I thought was great. For those first few times, I usually had 1 or 2 nicks but nothing serious. At that point, I was expecting I would go back to cartridge. I stuck it out though and once I learned proper technique, mapped my face and tried different blades (within a couple weeks) it all came together. My shaves are more close. The blade slides right through my beard with no pulling at all. My skin feels better and healthier with less irritation. And the blades are super cheap! I usually get 4-5 shaves from a blade, but even if I changed it every shave it would still be cheaper than the cartridges I was buying before. The only downside is that I do take a little longer to shave now. Not much, but it is more because I'll make 3 passes. I could get away with 2, but since I like shaving so much more now the 3rd pass doesn't bother me one bit. Also, since I do enjoy it more I have since started using better shaving cream and a shaving brush. If you're on the fence about going DE, jump in and give it at least a month. You won't regret it.

Worked great for a first timer
Just started shaving my head and my disposable multi-blade razor was giving me bad razor bumps so I wanted to try something different. Had never used a safety razor before so was a little worried but I was able to use this with only a few minor cuts and was very happy with the shave. And most importantly no razor bumps, no skin irritation at all. I'm sure with more uses I'll get the angle down and reduce the chance of cuts. It's a little tricky on the back of the head but the curve on the top of the razor helps set the right 30 degree angle, just need more practice. Overall very happy with this purchase and would recommend to anyone shaving their head that is having issues with disposable razors.

Great nostalgia and quality. Not for me
I was intrigued by all the reviews of shaving with a safety razor. This was the most highly rated. However upon shaving with it for a week, I never left without knocking something or getting up close to my nose. Was really hoping this would work out.

Edwin Jagger razors are great
I bought this razor as a newbie after having bought a cheap butterfly type razor (I fell for the valiant image marketing). That one was not mild as advertised and did not even hold the blade evenly. After a couple of weeks, I gave up and ordered this Edwin Jagger and have been extremely satisfied. The quality is great. It is described as mild to medium and I believe that to be accurate. I have been using this EJ for about a year and fully expect this razor to last for years. It is worth the price.

Need more time to review
I'm definitely going to have to use this for a while before I have a real judgment. I tried safety razors many years ago for a few years. I've been using multi blade Gillette razors since the Trac II came out in 1971. I've only used this E. Jagger for one shave so far and I definitely need more time with it before I can give a decent review.

Best safety razor I've used.
Looks great! Feels amazing in the hand. The best part is the angle in which the razor head bends the blade. Makes for a very smooth shave. Other razors don't bend the blades enough causing a very aggressive shave, prone to cuts and irritation. The build is of the highest quality. I'll be shaving with this one for life.

hard to shave with
I got razor burn and hairs won't even get shaved. I even looked up you tube to see if I'm doing it correctly. The blade just isn't good.

Didn't last and company refused to provide care.
I purchased this razor in November 2019. In January 2023, I was replacing the blade and the head no longer screwed into the handle. I contacted Edwin Jagger customer service to see if they would repair or replace the razor. I was told that the screw threads deteriorate and will not allow the head to screw in any longer. They said I could purchase a new shave head. This was very surprising to me since my grandfather shaved with a DE Safety razor for many years and I thought I would get the same use out of mine. Oh well, please understand you could also have the same results. If not for this misfortune, my review would be positive. It is a sad thing for companies not to stand by their products.
