The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

After reading any gardening book by William Cullina, you'll be patting yourself on the back for your knowledge and insight. Cullina gets to the heart of the matter and brings a clarity that few can match. This book describes the efforts of a small committed group of men and women who helped create the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and the beautiful place that it is today. It contains lots of beautiful photographs and many great ideas; and, it is an inspiration to anyone out there who has a dream to believe that a few people can make a difference.

We spend summers in the Boothbay area and the Gardens are within walking distance of our Lake Knickerbocker cottage. The Gardens are spectacular and this publication captures the moment beautifully. To make a good deal even better, by avoiding the temptation to buy the book in the Garden's store and while surprised to find it on Amazon.com, we saved $$$$ and didn't have to haul it all the way to our Atlanta area home.

This is a beautiful book that makes you feel good. What a breathtaking place has been created from the ideas of a gathering of people who want to share all that Maine has to offer. Having visited the Botanical Garden twice already, the book gives a good glimpse of what will make for a wonderful day trip and leave you ready to go home and dig in the dirt!

It is hard to imagine that a book could convey the magic you see at Coastal Mane Botanical Garden, but it comes close. It would be a great preparation for a visit or a reminder of a trip. If you don't have plans to visit Mane, it is a fascinating story with amazing pictures of a very unique place. Well done! Will go on my list of favorites!
