I have plenty of other cookware, but had to use big pots when cooking larger amounts of pasta. It's more than enough space to cook a whole box of spaghetti or if you're making 2-3 packs of pasta. I am so impressed with the quality. In one of my images, i've got it next to another pot that's a standard 2 1/2 qt so you can see the difference side by side. I love the fact that there are two different size holes in the lid where the pasta water can be drained. I hold the lid while I'm pouring, but it would probably stay in place if I didn't. It doesn't slide around, it's a very nice fit and the pour spouts were the perfect touch. The stainless steel and finish are very nice quality. They haven't been discolored or gotten any scratches no matter the material utensils that I use.
