Engineering Mechanics: Statics (12th Edition)

Statics for Engineering
This book is widely used at my school and I can see why. The online supplements, MasteringEngineering, help a lot in understanding the course. If you have trouble with some of the MasteringEngineering topics you can look in the book because some of the problems are right from the book. Also, there are solutions in the back of the book but there is no work to follow it.The chapters are split into sections so not a lot of material is taught before going into the next. I liked how they did this instead of putting them into big chapters with an end of the chapter review. The sections have about 2-4 examples clearly showing each step with a picture to go with it too.The book was brand new came in the plastic wrap with the online access code. The online access code is good for one year (2 semesters).

Engineering Mechanics: Statics (12th Edition) [Hardcover] by Russell C. Hibbeler
This is a very good text on the subject matter, Engineering Mechanics: Statics (12th Edition) [Hardcover] by Russell C. Hibbeler is the best text on the subject or one of the best I have used. I have other books on this subject for the student of physics and Engineering. This book is extremely thorough and details the study of Statics wonderfully and in it's 12th printing edition has been honed to a great book. I love it.

Engineering is supposed to make you think.
For the few people who rated this book so low, I disagree with the explanations. Engineering problems are supposed to make you think, and the problems in this book do just that. This is a class that separates those who can from those who cannot. Maybe they had a lousy instructor. My instructor was phenomenal. If the book is to be written better, it would have to be longer in length. I will admit that some of the solutions can feel hopeless without a solutions manual. But the problems are realistic. I'll be satisfied if Hibbeler's Dynamics book is as good as this Statics book.

Good book
Using this book for my statics class, and it is a great book. Throughout the book there are boxes titled "Procedure for Analysis" and "Important Points" that really help with a complete understanding of the ideas and how to use them. Statics is my favorite class this semester, mostly due to my professor, but also because statics is awesome. I love taking this book with me wherever I go to study, because the example problems are helpful, and the practice problems are great to work through.

Good condition
The book is pretty helpful for my Statics class (CE 99 at SJSU). Except for one little sentence that confused me and my teacher - it's a helpful book. It was also required to do the homework so hey - I had to get it. The condition it came in was fine

Great text built upon basic physical concepts of equilibrium forces ...
Great text built upon basic physical concepts of equilibrium forces and moments, as well as extended practical knowledge of calculus for use on geometric body masses. Contains many useful everyday examples, simplified and explained concisely to gain problem-solving comprehension. Saved $110 from 13th edition! :D

Not as thorough as I would have hoped
If this is required by a class this will be less of a reason to get it and more of an early warning. The material in this book is extremely straight forward. I highly recommend you look at it carefully and understand everything it is trying to say. There are few examples to illustrate the ideas unfortunately and the homework plays more off what is said than what is shown. I recommend getting outside help, working in groups, or paying attention to any examples given in class to fully understand how this subject works.

Virtually perfect condition
The book is virtually in perfect condition. Pages corners not bent. Cover is clean and without markings. Great hardback textbook. Fair value for what I paid. I think I saved about 30% on what a brand new textbook would have cost me. Very satisfied with the purchase.
