Do you get the color shown in the picture?

I ordered two of these fork sets in May and received both in green just like the picture.

Are these dishwasher safe?

I put them in the dishwasher all the time and they do just fine!

Are these too babyish for a just-turned four-year old? Should I just re-purpose a cake fork and have him use that instead of "toddler" cutlery? Thanks

These are perfect for any child from 1 1/2 all the way until they ready for real silverware. I am leaving this review now as I am reordering more spoons and forks. My 4 year old has used them since she moved on from the rubber coated "baby spoons". I have a 2 year old who is also using them. They are "baby" enough for my youngest and big enough for my oldest. I highly recommend them. They seem to be the perfect size for the longest use.

Is the fork part itself stainless steel?

Yes. Handle is plastic but fork is stainless steel.
