Works like it should.
Feels well built. Arrived packaged very well in foam. Worked perfectly for troubleshooting a power section on a tube amp.

Great value - but measure the output voltage!
The unit is sturdily built, with smooth adjustment, nice quality switch and outlet, and plenty of capacity. Great bang for the buck.Note that the voltages printed on the top assume a 110V input. In my house, it's closer to 126V, so setting the knob to 110 gives you 126V! Bottom line: don't count on the label. The meter on the front is pretty close, but it only lists a couple of specific voltages, so I'd recommend using a meter to verify what you're getting. My solution, as the picture shows, was to use a voltmeter to adjust the output to specific values that I'd be needing, then print a label for those values. It works great and is very repeatable.

Bench-top Beleeb Variac review and mod.
Bench-top Beleeb Variac review This is the 10 amp 110 vac (1Kva)model.The large black dial with a white triangle indicator is easy to read against the 0 - 130-volt scale as with all such variacs. With an input of 120 vac line measuring the unloaded output produced 120 Vac with a knob setting of 107 Vac. This represents an error of 11% low on the knob setting. At a full-scale setting of 130 Vac the output is 147 Vac. The feel is of the knob is very solid and smooth. The power switch is a rocker style with a built-in red indicator. The Variac also has a small analog voltmeter on the front panel. It has a non-numberic colored scale of black/green/red with the green portion of the scale indicating a normal line voltage range for US 110-120 volts. Setting the meter needle to the low end of the green scale provided 78 Vac output. Setting the meter needle to the high end of the green scale produced 120 Vac at the output. There is a center mark on the green scale that produced 100 Vac at the output.Cons:The knob scale is easy to read but is very inaccurate. This is a relative indicator at best but is a bit hard to see.Overall this is a very good value. I did make a simple modification that really makes it nice. The modification:(It is expected that anyone purchasing a variac should be capable on doing this simple mod. In any case, do so at your own risk.)I added a lamp under the meter inside the case that illuminates when the variac when it is powered on. It lights up the meter really well and spews light out of all the vents around the entire Variac in an interesting way. There is no mistaking whether it is on or not from any viewing angle. From Amazon use one DiCUNO E12 Lamp Holder with 8 Inch Wire Lead Candelabra Base Light Socket for E12 LED.From Amazon use one Kakanuo E12 LED Bulb 2.5 Watt Warm White 3000K 25W Equivalent 250Lumen. Feel free to substitute whatever you would rather use.I drilled a 1/8" hole through the bracket and front panel 1" below the front panel fuse. Rivet the socket in place. The lamp should sit right below the panel meter. Wire the lamp to the neutral side and the switched side of the switch.Overall I really like this Variac.

Functions as described
I'm using the Beleeb 20 amp variable autotransformer to adjust my home's voltage for use with 100V Japanese electronics (Denon 100W amp and CD player.) House voltage at plug measures 120.0V, and with variac dial set to "90"(as per picture above,) the built-in voltmeter needle lies directly above the first "1" of the "110" marking (as per second picture above.) At such setting, Klein multimeter measures 99.9V out of both plugs on the variac. I would advise you to measure your home's actual voltage output at plugs, and confirm variable autotransformer settings with voltage output measured at each of its plugs. It seems to work as advertised, has a sturdy build, good tight feel to its knob, and, best of all, I do not have any new noise picked up by my stereo equipment downstream from the Beleeb unit.

Better option for external fan speed contol
Picked up this unit to control the speed of a ducking fan. While the speed control options from the manufacture of the fan introduce a hum to it, this one does not. Complete control of the fan speed by turning a dial with no hum occurring from the fan.Note: While the product description states the item weight for this is 0.634 ounces, it weighs in at 7.5 lbs. Plan accordingly if your mounting it somewhere other than on a table.

Works pretty good.
Versatile, plenty of things to use for! I use it to heat up nicad wire to bend plastics. You can make those as ling as you want just turn up the dial.

Absolutely terrible reliability!!
I ordered 3 of these in total. The first one came and worked for 3 or 4 days then just stopped. Fuse was fine but it died. This is on a dedicated 30 amp circuit used to run a 10a shop fan when my RV isn't here. I ordered 2 more to be safe. First one instantly blew 2 fuses then a puff of smoke with zero load. The third one is working but I have ZERO confidence in these with a 66.6% failure rate. I wish the best of luck if you buy one but this is just pathetic.
