Marcum PanCam Camera System-Wi-Fi

Doesn't work with Samsung Note 4. Works on Galaxy S4 though.

Looks like everything will work great. Would have liked to had an external battery included or at least offered. There needs to be some form of cover wrapped around the circumference to hold the cable in place. Won’t be able to test it out until this upcoming winter but looking forward to it.

The concept is great. The execution isn't. I purchased this right before my annual ice fishing trip with my buddies. We had 2 ice castles within 30 feet of each other so I thought it would be great to punch a hole in between so both houses could view and control the camera. Well, the wifi signal was so poor that we moved it into one of the houses. Inside, the signal was great. We hooked the camera directly to the TV on the wall via the AV out (yellow port) on the PanCam. This gave the best image quality and real-time view. The App for Android and Apple is terrible. I learned that once you open the app, you can't switch to another. If you do, the Marcum app flakes out on you or doesn't respond. What a pain. Ultimately, the 2 only and big issues are: 1) wifi signal is not what they claim 2) the app is horrible. Pass on the PanCam otherwise you will have the same regrets.

This is a fun toy to have on the ice. I really didn't know what to expect since I don't know anyone else who has one and had never seen an underwater camera in action before. My reason for choosing this product was that I can record photos and videos using my tablet or smart phone. If you want that feature in a camera with included viewer the cost is considerably higher. Image quality is good in clear water. Internal battery life is limited but I've added a 9 VA ext. battery with F2 connections. Nice to include the external battery connector. The battery bayonet sockets should have a tab to allow easy connection to a charger. Easy to lose this connector and there's no place to keep it safe. The biggest issue for me is the cable management. The cable tends to come off in loops. It seems that it would have been easy to build in a tab that could be swung down across the cable to keep additional cable from falling off while adjusting for depth. I lost the vertical view fin right away. The case is nice and it would have been easy to put in a storage pocket for the fin. There are no instructions for setting up the camera. It's not hard to figure out but, some instructions for us novices would be helpful. Don't make users go looking for instructions on Youtube. The pan functions movements are too coarse for each push of the pan buttons. The app could use some improvements which I've reviewed separately in google play.

I loved the idea of remote underwater camera that sends Wi-Fi signal to multiple iPhone or iPad so that my grand kids can see whether there are fishes under our dock that is about 250 ft away from our cottage. This can be extremely entertaining and exciting - imaging how some of the kids, once they see fishes, will rush out with their fishing gears trying to catch them. So my daughters bought me this as a gift. Came with a very abbreviated instruction. No detailed instructions available anywhere - not even online from the Marcum website that offers excellent instruction manuals for other Marcum products. Turned out its quite simple to use the camera per se although I never figured out how to install the stabilizing tail fin onto the camera without breaking it. The signal was too weak to reach my house that is 250ft away, which is within the claimed 300 ft active range. Rather bulky and the rotating function of the camera is, as pointed out by another reviewer, weak and sluggish. Although I was disappointed and returned the camera, I want to commend Marcum for such a great idea, and I hope the company can come up soon with an improved, less bulky and less expensive product.

Good picture quality. Difficult connectivity.

Was able to easily install the Marcum app and to connect to the wifi signal with both my Samsung phone and my Ipad Mini. Yesterday was first time out on the ice with it and all the functions performed well including panning, video and photo functions. I drilled a hole for the camera about 4 feet away from my jigging hole. The lake water was not real clear but I was able to see my jig and many trout higher up in the water column as well as at bottom (20 foot depth). Very interesting to see how the fish whiz around and how they react to the lure. Was able to watch bites happening. My buddy downloaded the Marcum app on his phone and was also able to connect and watch. Multiple Apple or Android devices can connect at the same time (with password) but only the first one that connects will be able to control the panning and led lights. That way your joker buddies won't be able to mess with you.The internal battery on the Marcum lasted about 6 hours so if planning to run it all day will need to add an external battery (connector, mounting slot, and velcro tie down straps are included). Just have to realize that the limiting factor with any underwater camera is the clarity of the water.

Is supposed to be able to view camera using iPad, iPhone. There is no app for iOS version 11.1.1 or greater. Have new iPhone, have been unable to use this item. Tech support says 'it's coming', but nothing yet. Ice season is coming up fast . . .
