More like three and a half stars
This is one of those wide open games not of the sandbox variety (read lots of roaming around looking for the bad guy) the ole one shot one kill syndrome...it does have a lot to offer in that it has lots of things to do it just takes ya so long to get there...like 400 mile trips to find the battle site...so be prepared to hold the W button down a lot and bang your'e dead.....not a huge fan of the run around 10 minutes and shoot for 2 minutes....but there are those that do like this sort of thing and in that respect this is a classic.

Old, but fun for LAN plan
I knew when I ordered this game (at a GREAT price!), that it is an older Windows XP + DirectX 9 game. I purchased a few copies so I could multi-play the free mod Advanced Warfare with over a hundred maps. This game is very fun with 3 or more people on a LAN (not internet) Cooperative map! We love playing it over the holidays when we can have 4+ players. There are issues - times when the bad guys shoot you through cracks in the walls - but overall it is really fun!

Outdated and Unsupported
This game is outdated and unsupported by Novaworld, the makers. There are troubles connecting to other players or hosting games. They provide an error code that you can't trace and a support email address that nobody will respond to. So if you want to play with friends, don't bother getting this game, move on. It is apparently related to their "Punkbuster" (anti-cheating) software program, and they had some sort of falling out with the makers so it's unsupported. The only catch is you need it to play. So you have to have it, but you can't get it. Worthless really. Also, this is more of a real-time game. You could be walking for literally 10 minutes real time and not see anybody. Sure, it has that realistic nature that you can walk anywhere, but who wants to play that sort of game? There's too much waiting and walking and not actually playing. Unless you like aimlessly walking around in some sort of V-world jungle for countless time periods, move on to something else.

this game is ok, but everyone moved on!
this game was good and hard at the time unfortunatly those who cheated and the game itself being over 4 years old made many players to move on.There maybe 40 to 100 players at a time. I was hoping to purchase Battlefield 2 aswell but it may not be compatible for windows 7 but this JO pack is.

Best war simulator!
Sadly enough, Novalogic, the company behind Joint Ops is a disaster and have failed their community. Besides this, the game is a genre defining title. Other games may have better graphics but, still can't match JO for their battle size. I played a battle in a tournament for JO with 188 people in the server. We had a blast back then. Unfortunately, the game aged and we lost alot of player over time, but the tourney is still going for those interested at ic-jo.info!

Great Game!
This is a war game that requires developing skill in the use of a number of weapons and vehicles, and after months of play, I still haven't conquered all the skills to assure victory, HOWEVER it has great training exercises in each weapon and vehicle, and I enjoy the training. Tremendous entertainment for the value!

Great game...but cant add mods.
For some reason you cant add International Conflict, Advanced Warfare, ICE, or others. If you want them you may have to get TR and Esc separately and add the updates to each, then add the mods.

Still nothing else like it.
This game teaches tactical combat the right way, I didn't realize what teamwork really was until I played this. The game world is at least 6 times larger than Battlefields largest map. With all the graphical effects turned on this game is still nice to look at. Online play can be laggy but playing it on LAN is where is really shines for me.
