Amazing content and worth every cent!!
I kept seeing blog posts by the author and Pinterest posts of her techniques, and was very curious about how she created the interesting effects. So, I bought this book and am very glad I did. It covers everything I was interested in and more, and as I’m reading through the book, I get more and more ideas and am so anxious to get to work. The book was worth every cent. I know it’ll get lots of use.

Interesting, but not sure what to do with it
I bought both of the books in this series and I'm really not sure what to say about them. When I read creative books, great ones anyway, I get so much inspiration, so many ideas, that I can barely get through a few pages before wanting to put the book down and go try a new technique. That just didn't happen here. I didn't feel that urge to put the books down and get up and go play. But that doesn't mean I didn't like the books either, as I did. I guess I'm looking at them as interesting and gorgeous books/art/etc., but as yet haven't figured out how to incorporate it into my art.The art and techniques in the books is 100% for fine craft wall hangings and vessels. There is nothing crafty, quilty, rubber stamped, etc. in them. I don't make wall hangings or vessels, so I suspect that that's why I didn't have the urge to drop the book and go play.

Well explained procedures & photos
Love this book. It’s written to a beginners level, yet so inspirational to create something unique. I’m planning to incorporate my finished work on my repurposed jeans line of clothing.

The ideas are fabulous
This is really a great book if you want to start distorting fabrics with heat. Kim has written a very complete book for the novice or professional.

Soooo glad I purchased this book
Soooo glad I purchased this book. When you do also visit the website of Lillypilly Designs for some awesome metals, slate, cork, wood and ultra suede to use with the lessons. They are an awesome business and they've used this book as well.

On the Contrary
Contrary to the previous reviewer who didn't think Kim Thittichai (Hot Textiles) did a good job on addressing the safety issues...I beg to differ. I'm only on page 27 and so far Ms. Thittichai addresses the safety issue on page(s) 7 (2 paragraphs); pg 10, entire page; pg 12, 1 paragraph; pg. 15, 1 paragraph; pg. 17, warning; pg 24, entire page. I think this is an excellent book which leads the artist into using different mediums and how to safely use each of them. I'd highly recommend this book to someone who has used some of the products as well as someone who is new to working in this textile environment.

I love this book
This is one of the few books I have bought that I read cover to cover. I can't wait to get started on everything! There are not step by step directions but there are good descriptions of what to do to achieve each effect. It might not be the book for a beginner. The pictures are wonderful.

Exactly what I was after
An instruction book on how to create using heat tools. Lots of information not so much a project book. Still has lots of inspiring photos with clear explaination of what the author did to get the shown result.

Cover comes off and exhausted gathering materials
Looks a great book, but it does take a lot of time and effort gathering materials. I've spent hours looking for tyvek, lutrador, angelina fibres, soldering irons with the right wattage and tip size, and so on. Every company seems to have one aim in mind and that is to charge as much as possible, then add VAT and postage on top, so by the time you have got a few materials to start with, you have no money left, and feel exhausted with the sheer effort of gathering everything together. So I am still in this process, so haven't even started on anything. My one observation is that it is made up of a load of exercises and 'why not try this' scenarios, but there are no actual projects to complete, which I was expecting. Additionally, the cover comes off, leaving a dull brown book.

Really HOT Textiles
I love Kim's approach to textile art. This book delivers on many levels and provides so much inspiration. A real life saver when I'm trying to plan my textile classes and the kids love anything that is a bit edgy like using heat guns and soldering tools....safely utilised of course!Good instructions, clear and written with warmth and a sense of enthusiasm. Lots of great photos and inspiring ideas that cover a wide range of abilities.Another excellent book from Kim {keep them coming!}

Hot Textiles
Well illustrated with clear explanations. Inspiring descriptions,, Motivating to 'have a go' and try some of the new products around. If you have been wondering what to do with the sheet of Lutrador and/or Tyvek you bought at the last show this is definitely the book for you.
