Neos SmartCam | Wi-Fi SmartHome Security Camera, Works with Alexa, 1080P HD Video, Night Vision, 2-Way Audio, Free Cloud Storage, UK Support, White, Single Pack

Although this is not sold as a baby monitor this is what we are using it for, it is much cheaper than the £200+ Baby cameras currently on the market.We have this set up over the cot and can monitor baby live via the app on our phone or via our Amazon Echo shows. We can arm and disarm the motion and noise detection independently. When armed the camera will send a notification to your phone to alert you of activity, I also have this set up so it will buzz my Fitbit (Charge3) watch. Via the Neos app we can also record videos and take still photos, we have used this to capture some cute baby moments to share with family.We love this camera and it works very well for our needs, however the potential downside when using this as a baby are:1. You only get 1 motion/sound notification alert every 5mins (not an issue for us as one Alert and we just check in on the camera live to see if baby settles back down without one of us going in)2. The alerts have a slight delay (12sec delay as you get alerted after the camera has recorded the activity)3. The two way sound works like a walkie talky, you can't speak and listen at the same time.4. Neos Boost, yes gives the advantage of more notifications without a 5min break between them. However, it also gives you a 60sec recording of the activity and there is no way to change this, which means there would be a 60sec delay before your app was notified of activity instead of 12 secs.5. When watching live via Amazon Echo show the camera will eventually time out, not a huge issue as you just need to ask Alexa to show you the camera again. This can be annoying when you just want to check instantly on what baby is up to.6. Downloading and sharing the videos can be hard as it doesn't save to the phones media gallery I have no idea where is saves to, I'm using Android on a Samsung S8 phone, the sharing directly to social media (WhatsApp) just keeps giving me an error.Overall we love this little camera and are indenting to buy another for our living room so we can monitor baby playing if we need to leave the room (eg. to prepare milk/food or nip to the toilet).

I'm always trying to wait a bit till I leave the review of the product so after months of having one I decided to purchase another 2 on black Friday as they've been on even better offer.Right for £25 you would not expect much right? but honestly for that price this camera blows a mind.I have it placed in 3 different location around my apartment, which one location it's slightly poor in wifi signal but camera still works well.Night vision is alright, got good distance of view and quality ain't that bad.streaming to your phone? works fine, although if you put down app and then come back it shows that can't connect to camera but it's enough to go back to main interface and go back to camera and it works fine, haven't even got much latency but that's may vary of your internet quality.12 sec clips when motion/sound detected, it's not bad and can be extended to 60sec when paid subscription which is around £3/month which isn't bad either, I've got them mostly to watch my cat while we're away for few days. and for that reason they are great.why only 4 stars for motion detection? in daylight it works great, but on night vision not necessary, you can see cat moving in a background but it won't detect it until it will get close enough or his eyes will reflect ir light back to cam.But I'm happy with them, so ended up with 3 after few weeks of checking just one... and can recommend it to anyone who does not expect it to recognise the faces, but give you simply insight/view into what's happening at the moment in your household etc.And reviews about address requesting issue? well when I sign up, I didn't wanted to arm it automatically so I had choice to do not provide my location info, so clearly you've got choice on this one, and even so I wouldn't be so worry, if someone would like to grab you address in most countries it's public information anyway and your phone tracking you 24/7 anyway... and from what I have found Neos is some sort of home insurance company, that you can use their services so I guess those cam are mainly the addon to service, and to make them cheaper they just selling them also separately. [UPDATE]- NEOs have decided to add in scheduling to arm/disarm the camera, but for the price of £3.49 a month. This seems like such a basic offering I cannot believe they would charge for it.That's a deal breaker for me and so now they're going on ebay!You do get extra cloud storage with that - something I'm not particularly interested in.[Original review]Firstly, this is an excellent camera for the price. The image quality is great, motion tracking works well and the speaker is loud enough for a 2 way conversation.In response to the security concerns, you ARE required to provide your address on signup (although you could provide fake details), but you DO NOT need to provide access to your iPhone's location, unless you want to use the auto arm / disarm feature. This is true for iPhone, but I haven't tested Android.When armed and motion is detected, the camera will send a notification to your phone. It will also record 12 seconds of footage and upload it to the cloud. It will then "cool down" for 5 minutes - it will stop recording and uploading. After 5 minutes have elapsed, it will record and upload again. However you can view the live video feed at any time via the app.You CANNOT currently set the camera to auto arm/disarm according to a timed schedule so if you don't want to share your phone's location, you have to manually arm the camera via the app. Arming to a schedule would be a very welcome addition.You can insert a Micro SD card into the camera and it will continuously record, while over-writing the oldest footage. Unfortunately you CANNOT access the footage from the app (although an update is promised later in the year to do this), so you have to remove the SD card and insert it into your computer.Overall I am very impressed with the camera apart from the two issues mentioned above, which hopefully Neos will rectify soon!

First of all the reality is that this is a cracking little camera that is almost cute in it's design - intentional of course - is well made and the system works brilliantly.However, lets make a correction. The Amazon description is incorrect when it states that recordings are kept for seven days on the cloud. They are not. Each 12 second clip is saved for 24 hours - which of course you can download.All is not lost of course because, you can insert a microSD card and run on a continuous loop making your own recordings which, you can download. Simple, easy and cheap and will of course avoid the eventual roll out costs of a long term on line storage subscription.The above advertising niggle aside, this is a brilliant bit of kit. Genuinely well made with an appealing design. Even more impressive is the cost which, is cheap as chips for what it is, especially being UK designed (not manufactured of course) and supported.Easy to set up. Really easy especially with the no nonsense videos.Now, I do see some people hating the idea of registering details. Well, if you use the internet and of course IP cameras with online storage it is a fact of life. All IP camera companies want this information but, I trust NEOS more than most because it is a British company based in the UK and is allied to the largest insurance company in the UK as well. You are as safe as any internet based camera system can be. If you don't want that 'risk' then buy a NVR and POE cameras and don't connect to the internet.I wanted this for outside to be honest, despite being an indoor camera. So, I bought a small enclosure for it and put it near my hedgehog feeding station to keep an eye on Spiney. Works a treat.Only one more thing to note, is that on the Neos website it's sold at twenty quid so cheaper than here.

Before I review the product can I address the other reviews I have seen on here about the intrusive information required during setup.A lot of people complain it needs your address and phone location and ask why this is needed.These cameras have an auto arming feature. When they detect your device (phone location info) leaving your property (home address info) they will auto arm and when you come home they will disarm. (Or you can manually switch this).This is a feature of these cameras and that info is adjustable in the settings. If you do not want this to work and are concerned about your privacy then put generic info in the boxes. They do not verify the information. Your email address is required to use the download and view uploaded videos that they store for FREE on their remote servers for your security. The same as any site that requires a login to access data.Also, to the people complaining about this, you are happy to upload videos of the inside of your home and the activity therein to their servers but get upset that they need your phone number as part of the registration process?? Most online accounts use a phone number backup for password reset confirmation codes etc..Now that is out of the way..I had a £500 arlo cctv system which I bought on amazon prior to this camera. It was ok.. but heavy maintenance, charging units, constant upgrades, firmware and app etc. And it was no better than these cameras with a very similar user interface and features.I bought one of these to see what it was like and within 24 hours we bought 2 more they were so good. Zone selection, 2 way audio, very good clear room coverage, auto night vision, adjustable noise and motion sensitivity etc.Set up was extremely easy but I had to quickly google how to set the devices up with Alexa show. This works really well but I have yet to discover if 2 way audio works with alexa show.. as yet i cannot use it to send audio to the camera, but can watch and listen to the cameras on the show. But this feature works well through the phone app.The whole setup has worked so well I have now removed my expensive arlo system, bought sd cards for the neos cams for constant footage backup and even subscribed to neos boost. A couple of pounds a month for extended off site footage on their servers.Overall, really happy but I hope they opt to include an outdoor cam soon so I can cover external areas all in the one app. This is sadly still a lacking addition.

(I am an owner of multiple Nest cameras (indoor and outdoor) as well as Amazon Blink Cameras and have been using NEOS Smart cameras for over 6 months.)The cameras themselves are very well made and seem great quality. Camera comes complete with USB power supply, cable, camera, metal wall plate and sticker and a warning window sticker.Out of the box you need to setup the camera using software that is available on apple and google stores. The setup itself is extremely simple and once you enter wifi details into phone or tablet you will be shown a barcode. Just point the camera at the barcode and setup is complete. you can then name camera etc and update firmware.The quality of image is excellent and rivals the Nest cameras. (The 1080p ones, not the Nest 4k) There is clearly a lot of compression going on but it's not enough to take away from the cameras purpose. They record at 1080p and can be set to send video at a lower quality 720p if required. Night recording is also Excellent quality thanks to the built in UV lights. (Outdoor night picture attached)The software allows you to set movement zones, alarms, playback footage and adjust things like video quality, motion and sound sensitivity etc. You can even live view or take video and pictures if you want to. It does offer the ability to record your voice and talk to the camera but the speaker in the camera is small and weak so don't expect to much.The cameras will trigger on movement and 12 second recordings are available for review. You also will get alerts sent to your phone/tablet. These can be a little annoying in busy areas but you can configure and adjust sensitivities and only alert based on zones etc.NEOS offer a subscription service. At time of writing for £2.50 a month you can upgrade to 1 minute recordings and much more configuration options such as automated arming. On the agreement it states that this subscription covers 3 cameras however I have not been charged and have 4 with full service. There is a message on website (Nov 2020) that they are not enforcing the 3 camera limit at this time but may in future.If you are installing multiple cameras in same room then you can use the USB port on the back of the unit to power second camera (up to 3 can be daily chained) to limit the number of sockets required. This is very useful for multiple angles in same room.The camera has a micro SD card slot and if you decide to add one (Max 32GB) it will locally record in a round robin way deleting oldest recordings. This is very useful in that you can view the short clips on the NEOS app but also see all footage if you should need to. Just remember it overwrites depending on the size of SD card you install. You have to remove the cards to review the footage at this time. Neos have hinted that they will allow remove retrieval but don't rely on this.The cameras themselves are exactly the same as Wyze cameras. You cannot re-flash them to be Wyze cameras without significant technical know how and difficulty however you don't really need to.The cameras are for indoor use. I have however recently purchased an outside cover for the camera. Whilst the outdoor case itself is only slightly weatherproof with a little silicon I think it will hold up OK. For the low cost of these cameras I think it's worth the risk.Overall I think the Neos Smart cameras are excellent value for money and even after upgrading to the subscription service. Neos themselves are part of the AVIVA group so considered relatively safe from a privacy perspective and the cameras themselves are based on a proven and trusted platform.I think for indoor usage it offers better value for money over Nest products. Blink cameras would also serve as an alternative however the subscription service on these from Amazon is not clear at time of writing this review. Either way. If you are looking for a cheap 1080p camera for the home I think you should look at the Neos Smartcam.

Positive points. Very simple to set up and has good, crystal clear picture quality. Wide field of view for excellent coverage and with digital zoom which does degrade the quality as you zoom in but still adequate.Negative points. There is a huge delay to the live feed. I have this camera overlooking the front of my house, my front garden & my entrance gate. I was watching the live feed when my doorbell rang which was very strange as I had seen nobody open the gate & walk up to my front door. So I answered the door and it was an Amazon driver making a delivery. I took the parcel, closed the door and then sat in front of my CCTV monitor again. About 20 seconds later I saw the gate open & the Amazon driver walk up my garden path with the parcel & then walk out again. A delay of around 2 minutes at least! The second thing which is less than perfect is the cameras motion sensing. The camera has quite a large viewing angle which also picks up the footpath & road outside. My other IP cameras (Wansview) also have motion sensing but with the ability to choose which area is covered by the motion trigger points. You can draw a box around the area you want protected which in the case of this camera would be from inside my front gate, up to the front door. However, this Neos camera does not have the ability to define the motion trigger area but instead, it reacts to any movement anywhere within its field of view so you constantly get false triggers and loads of video of random people walking by in the street outside and random cars driving by which makes the motion sensing pretty useless. Ideal if you want to win the worlds nosiest neighbour award but otherwise counterproductive.Considering the low cost of this camera, I would rate it as worth the money, but only because of its low cost. If you want this camera to monitor the inside of your property where there could be no false motion triggers, then it would probably be just fine.

I am going to base my review on what I actually think about the product other than the perceived intrusiveness that has impaired the consumers judgement.If you are worried about privacy though, I would suggest that this smart cam is not for you as the sign up process requires ‘very personal’ details.At the time of writing this review 9/06/19 I have owned the Neos Smart Cam for over a month now. (Purchased 8/06/19).Unrivalled by any other smart cam at its price point, coming in at £25, the Neos Smart Cam in my opinion is revolutionary as it brings home security to the consumer at an affordable price.The camera is small in size, it’s dimensions are 5 x 5 x 5.6 cm, and it features a sleek, adorable, Disney Pixar like shape with a foldable stand that allows for 360 degree movement which allows you to capture several different angles. The stand has a magnetic base which makes mounting easy, or you have the option to use the adhesive sticker that comes with it. The build itself is made from good quality plastic and is sturdy enough to withstand dropping it.Its size, and looks alone is low profile, and its cuboidal shape allows it to be housed in many disguises which makes it the ultimate security camera.Features:The camera is intended for indoor use only, however there are various housing brackets that can be used to use it outside, although if rain seeps in it may break it.For a £25 smart cam, the picture quality is remarkable. Its 110º wide angle lense allows you to capture a wide field of view at 1080p, enough to make out facial features and enables 8X digital zoom to objectively focus the camera.The Camera has a 1/2.9” CMOS sensor which enables motion detection with alerts that will alert your phone of any movement it picks up. Believe me when I say this, the motion detector is good enough to pick up flies, or the slightest movement of a curtain which became more of an annoyance over time.After a motion is detected, it saves a 12 second video clip onto the Neos Smart Cam App which can either be downloaded or saved.The app itself gives free indefinite cloud footage that saves clips for up to 14 days. Any clip that isn’t saved after 14 days gets deleted from the cloud.The Camera also has night vision mode, which allows you to see up to 9 metres in total darkness. For its price, the night vision is one of the selling points that got me. The camera will also auto adjust to night vision if it senses darkness, and has the option to toggle it on or off in its app.The Camera also enables 2-Way audio which allows you to listen or talk to the person on the other end using the SmartCam’s built in speaker and microphone.The app allows you to take advantage of its “always on feature” which means that if you purchase the Neos Smart Cam’s Micro Sd card, you can record up to 48 hours worth of footage straight before having to wipe the cards memory again. This is something other Smart Cameras don’t do, and force you to pay a cloud subscription which can be expensive.The most notable features of the camera itself is found in the app which gives you a variety of settings, notifications and other options.The camera can also be paired with smart devices such as google home, alexa or television.The only notable con of this Security Camera is the lengthy and intrusive sign up process.Other than that, it is not water proof or intended for outside. However I found that it makes a good inexpensive alternative to a doorbell camera when cased inside a doorbell case with a doorbell sensor.Overall, I would recommend this to anybody who is needs home security but doesn’t want to spend too much.
