It has an input jack, plug the guitar directly into it. It has an output jack, connect it to your effects chain or amplifier to it Turn volume down to near zero, turn fuxx up to 75%. Install 9v battery and click the footswitch on. Turn up volume until you hear the sound. Then adjust fuzz to just a bit after the signal clips. Don't touch either volume or fuzz again. Use your guitar volume knob to control the dirt in your sound. When a Fuzzface is on the guitar volume has little effect on volume.This pedal is a classic but takes some effort to learn. It does what it does perfectly.Highly recommended.

I was t happy with this at first,didn't like it, it was ok but not what I wanted so I kept it for a few more days thinking its got to be better than that for $100 so I opened it up low and behold a trim pot,turned it up and down and found the sweet spot, now I love it, someone should tell folks about this

This is almost the fuzz sound I was looking for. Classic sounding fuzz with decent break up. But it is under powered. I had to almost turn both knobs all the way to get my tone. But thats the way a classic type fuzz is. I found a like new devi ever vintage fuzz master really cheap. Now that one has the power and tone. Returned the fuzz face.

IF you never owned one of these they are rather different then your typical distortion/ overdrives out there.The fuzz has very little control and is way over the top to the point you think its going to fall a part. But the beauty is how well these clean up with your tone knob. you have overdrive at 5 or 7 but then you turn you knob to 10 and you have crazy lead notes that not Boss can give you. Its basically early 70's pink floyd solos that are super full. He diddles around until the solo and then bam, he cranks the volume knob and fills the whole song. The germanium version is a bit smoother if prefer but there is not huge difference between the two. Its cool to have around but its more of specialty pedal unless you only play heavier musics from around 1970. There is a switch inside that can reduce the gain but you have to be careful, go too low and sounds like the battery is dead.

A nice classic fuzz tone but the round format of the pedal may be a bit too odd if you are creating a clean pedalboard. The volume is lower than you would expect (by design). Hard to get the right setting depending upon how you place the fuzz. I have a buffer pedal before it and it sends the Fuzz into a splatty od fuzz tone almost digital in nature like a bit crusher - cool if that’s what you like. Need to experiment with other pedal combos as Fuzz is really picky. Great pedal but need to spend more time with it. Note: this is NOT a pedal you can fix if it breaks. Components are miniaturized and you cannot replace. Should be no problem but I prefer pedals with common components so I can Mod or fix in the future. This pedal is basically disposable.

I got this pedal used for a good price, hoping it would be a decent fuzz. The main benefit of this pedal is its size. It is very compact and easy to fit on a pedalboard. As for functionality, I suppose it depends a bit on one's taste. I rarely use it, because I hate treble-heavy distortion, and this pedal has zero low end. The only way it's remotely usable for me is if I turn the bass all the way up on my amp and the treble all the way down. Then I roll most of the tone off my guitar. This is too much work. Overall, it's an okay pedal, but it's not that much cheaper than like a used earthquaker devices hoof or cloven hoof on ebay/craigslist. I would recommend saving some extra money and getting one of those.

For the price they should include a 9v which you NEED

This is not a plug it in, stomp on it, and enjoy pedal. This is a tweak and re-tweak with every guitar to find the sweet spot. I found the sound to be really bad unless I cut down the guitar volume at least half. This applies to high gain hum buckers or low gain Fender pickups. The box really doesn't like high input volumes. Of my three fuzz boxes, this is the most temperamental and hard to control. The player with one guitar and one desired fuzz sound would probably be fine with this. and players looking for the missing link in their Eric Johnson sound has to have a Fuzzface. It's one of his secret weapons.

Sounds great and very convenient. The smaller size, LED, battery access and 9v Jack are great improvements over a standard fuzz face. It behaves like an original fuzz face; all the great qualities as well as the quirks. Great little pedal, solidly built, stable on the ground despite its size and so well worth the price.

Pedal sounds great but missing a screw as shown in the photo. I’ve sent multiple emails asking for a resolution or screw be posted but all have been ignored. Whilst not an enormous issue, the pedal does come away from the base in that spot and I will not be able to find a screw to match as it is rare.
