Not terrible
Honest take on his career. A bit long-winded - would like to have heard more about that Man U team.

Carrick. A surprisingly good human being
Very insightful read about a good human and sportsman who seems to have remained grounded in a very materialistic world.

The most underrated player ever.
What a player Michael Carrick was. Unfortunately, in England players like Carrick are not very well appreciated. Someone that sits in front of the defence and dictates play is something fans in this country don't understand. They prefer Stevie Me's long-range goals and Hollywood passes or even Fat Frank's deflected goals. The saddest thing about it is Michael could have been the perfect player for England and someone that could have won them the world cup. A player who would have controlled the tempo and dictated the play, but sadly instead of exploiting those talents, they picked duds like Jordan Henderson instead. While England was overlooking him, Manchester United was picking him and unsurprisingly Carrick played a key role in the 5 premier league titles and the champions league, plus many more cups. The most underrated player of all time.

A gentle read from a gentleman
If you like football autobiographies that reveal controversial behind the scenes stories, or even in-depth tactical analysis, you'll be disappointed with this. Michael Carrick comes across as a person of strong personal family values and a clear sense of competitiveness, similar in fact to the wonderful way he played the game. This is an easy and enjoyable read, particularly for Manchester United fans, but it lacks the edge of, for example, books by Robbie Fowler or Joey Barton. But then again, Carrick is a peacemaker so that's not surprising. We do get some insight into Carrick's inner feelings but overall this is a very "U" category book.

Fantastic autobiography of a top man
This is one of the best sports autobiographies I've ever read. Michael comes across as very humble, passionate thoughtful and intelligent. I've cried at times as I can understand some if his thoughts of feeling misunderstood and not fitting in. As a United fan his insight into their revent success and also into his managers, fellow players and behind the scenes life is second to none. His upbringing and early days learning the trade as a footballer are also very interesting and moving. I highly recommend this book.

Great player. Great guy. Great book.
Hugely underrated as a player by everyone apart from the clubs he played for. Did everything on the pitch with thought and played with honesty. The book is the same. You don’t have to be a red, Spurs or a hammer to appreciate this book. Would recommend for any football fan.

A great account of a great career. I am a United ticket holder and it has been a pleasure to watch Michael, he was a great player before he joined us and has flourished into a truly outstanding member of the team.I wish him well in his future roles in football, whatever path he chooses because football can only be great with people like him having a key role. The book is highly recommended
