If I Stay (DVD)

I hated the ending because I wanted more.
Let me start off by saying that you won't regret watching if you love a tear-jerking love/drama story. Its similar to, Five Feet Apart, The Fault in Our Stars, The Best of Me, A Walk to Remember, Charlie St. Cloud, Me Before You, After, The Age of Adeline, To All the Boy's I've Loved Before, etc. (Btw, I've watched all of these)Mia's character is what trapped me in it. I didn't like Adam in the beginning because I thought he was going to be a jerk, but he grew on me. The way everything was set up in this movie was perfect. I cried for so long just imagining if that happened in real life. After losing everything, Mia is shone that there are still people rooting for and supporting her. It's a drama of a teen girl who goes through an unbelievable loss and is holding onto a love which really shows that opposites do attract. She has the choice of making her future in her dream University, Julliard, and losing the last love of her life or staying but being constantly reminded of the tragedy that left her where she is now.

Good movie, like the out of body experiences
I enjoyed this movie, although, I think it’s more for the teen crowd. I enjoyed the out of body experiences she had. I thought that was well done. My only beef was all the cut aways. It was hard to follow at times. One moment she’s in high school, and another she’s a little girl. I do like how the movie ended.

Could have been so much more
From the synopsis I expected to see a film about a near-death experience but they only went as far as an OBE (out of body experience) which happens to everyone that is comatose although some may not remember their experience if they regain consciousness. I was disappointed in the ending because anyone that has been in a coma just because they open their eyes does not mean that they're going to be "functional" therefore the ending seemed abrupt and unrealistic to me. It seemed to essentially be a romantic coming of age movie which was fairly well done. I'm stretching my review to four stars but overall I was disappointed because it didn't match my expectations.

So much more than a coming of age flick
I watched thius film knowing that out-of-body is real, having once experienced it for the briefest of moments. This fugue-like state was, for me, a bit scary and very discombobulating. The film tried, and somewhat succeeded, in portraying this incorporeal condition. If the film foccused on this theme, I would have given it five stars. But after all due concideration, the film at its heart, was a coming of age flick. Mind you, it was a very good one, well acted, with this superlative, unique plot twist, but a chick flick nevertheless. For that reason alone, I gave it 4-stars.

Great movie!
Grab the tissue box first! One of my new favorite young actresses, Chloe, and another favorite I’ve had for a few years, Mireille Enos, are great in this movie! Everyone is! A sad, but beautiful love story that you have to see if you love romantic movies! I often wish for a more complete ending (for lack of a better way to put it) that puts a nice bow on it, but sadly, so many movies today end in a way that leaves you wishing for more. Still, if you like movies that pull on the heart strings (and that make you cry) this is a must-see! (Also loved hearing the song “I Will Be There” by Odessa in the soundtrack … such a beautiful, under-rated song).

I am unprepared to call this movie perfect
But for what it is, what it wants you to experience--the fascination with music, the unexpected love, the bedrock of support from family, the precious moments of life in all its messiness--this movie leads you there with perfect balance.

YOLO
This movie makes you see that life can change drastically in the blink of an eye. Love all you can, live and let live, laugh as much as possible. The love between two opposites was beautifully portrayed. Not many get to step out of their comfort zones.Very sad movie but nudges you to live the present and be present. Stay and live.

An emotional charmer.
I bought this as I'm a fan of Chloe Grace Moretz & have to say it's not bad. For a love story & someone who reflects back on their life I expected the love story to come on a bit strong & maybe spoil the film but I felt it was handled just right. I'm not saying it's a film that's gonna please all but it's certainly worth watching.
