Five Dollar Bargain
Excellent value. "Used" library book appeared to have never been opened. Nice plastic dust jacket protector. This finishes my set of a great history of Britain.

Captivating read
If you are a fan of Schama, and you enjoy his character development as he weaves his tales of history, you will enjoy this book. Great fact filled journey.

A modern history with stunning photographs
I had the first two volumes and had just finished reading them when I ordered vol 3. I have been a nearly lifelong student of history and when I first did some student teaching inn Emerson College in Boston, i was delivering lectures on more modern history than the categories i had studied (European before 12648) when a student asked a question i could not answer. I realized that i knew little about English History and resolved to correct that in my regular reading. This collection of historical material is very helpful and brings a more up to date presentation than some of the older histories I had read.

a great book
The breadth of these books is wonderful. All too often only the upper classes are covered in books dealing with history, but Simon Schama has such an even-handed approach that we see how all people were effected by what was happening.

Thank you so much for such a great savings on this gift for my husband to complete ...
This book retails for $40 (if you can find it) and I bought this for just $6 brand new, still shrink wrapped! Thank you so much for such a great savings on this gift for my husband to complete his collection!

Popular History Based on the TV Series
This is popular history for those who know little but those who know a great deal will also find it enjoyable. Sure, it is a coffee table book, but so what?I loved it as I loved the two other volumes. It would also make a nice gift for anyone interested in British history. So what if they know everything? They can look at the pictures.
