Product Description DVD Features: Trailer Interactive Menus Scene Access Language: English Subtitles: None 1.78:1 widescreen .co.uk Review Clockwise is a light-hearted farce that works because John Cleese is so effective as the tightly wound, punctilious headmaster whose well-organised life unravels in a series of disasters on his journey to a conference. Cleese is a master of fussy, fastidious characters in exasperating situations, bottling up his frustration under good manners and sardonic comments until he finally blows, but heÂ’s also startlingly vulnerable as he systematically loses all sense of himself. Dressed in monkÂ’s robes and stranded on a lonely country road, he looks down at his naked wrist and sighs, "IÂ’ve even lost the time". Michael Fryan (the playwright of Noises Off) doesnÂ’t really have much of a story behind the situations, but he provides plenty of complications, and Cleese holds the film together with his brittle manner, single-minded drive, and hilarious headmasterÂ’s condescending haughtiness. While it will seem slight to many, Cleese fans will love it.--Sean Axmaker, .com

Hilarious, John Cleese at his best
A brilliant film. I bought it for my son because he has been enjoying Fawlty Towers. This is John Cleese, doing what he does best. Silly, funny, slapstick and exasperated comedy - hysterically funny. The clothing and the cars look very 1980s, but I don't care. It's Cleese doing his thing, and it's brilliant.

John Cleese comedy
A good film for its time, John Cleese in the 'Fawlty Towers' mode, great comedy along with Alison Steadman as his long suffering wife, it does get a little silly half way through but overall worth watching and alls well that ends well!

DVD Cut???
Just watched this DVD tonight, and a fantastic funny film.I saw this film many years ago either on Sky TV or the old VHS release, but I am sure there is a line of dialogue missing from the DVD which I seem to remember: Alison Steadman telling chatterbox Joan Hickson to either shut up or belt up during the film, which is not present on the DVD. Is my memory playing tricks, or was there such a scene/line of dialogue in a previous version of the film? Anyone have a previous version of this (TV broadcast, VHS, US release ?) or someone who also recalls this scene.

superb
A brilliant film, watched it several times. It's funny and every minute is gripping. It has a good cast and great characters. Not a single swear word or violence or gore, a good enjoyable old film.

John Cleese at His Best
I bought this to watch again with my grandchildren (young teens). It was a lesson in history for them to see how we used to have to use phone boxes! We all laughed and laughed.

Why it isn't a better known comedy classic is beyond me
Quite simply , one of the funniest films Cleese has ever done . I can watch this over and over and never get tired of it . Why it isn't a better known comedy classic is beyond me .
