Its weight in gold...
I guess mine are 5 years old now, so maybe quality has degraded since then.I hope not, because mine are AMAZING!I put a little lube into the adjuster screw, and the thing just works.Again, mine are 5 years old, and the finish is still basically new. The jaws have a little epoxy coat flaking, but no effect on the performance. It's comfortable to use. The finish is smooth, and the contours are nicely rounded. The screw turns easily when released. I've never pinched myself with the release bar. The release bar always moves smoothly. And the GRIP, oh, the grip. I just used this to free a corroded battery from a cheap, totally round, slippery flashlight. The grip was perfect: no slip, not too loose, not too tight. Try that with Channellocks. (I have both and really like both, but they're different tools for different uses.)I'm actually back reviewing this because I just used it to remove a stuck inner CV link. The cup is metal and hooked into the transmission pretty tightly. I was unable to pry it or grab it with a slide hammer. Enter the Grip On. Snapped it in place on one side of the cup. Hooked a piece of the slide hammer into some open space in the locked jaw. Couple taps. Changed position to the other side of the cup. Couple taps. Clunk, out. Just a few minutes. If the tool can hang on despite a 5-pound slide hammer yanking on it, that's GRIP!Buy one! It locks and yanks or twists darn near ANYTHING!

Simply the best
These pliers are outstanding! I promise you will not be let down. The steel is all heavy gauge, the rivets are solid, and the epoxy coating feels great in the hand. The design is arguably better than the original Vise Grips, because the release lever is pulled rather than pushed to release the pliers. The epoxy coating is very uniform, and durable. It feels like a lifetime tool from the moment that you pick it up.The tragedy of the rice grips (Chinese made locking pliers) has become a pretty big issue for anyone looking for a lifetime pair of locking pliers. These Grip-On pliers are the solution. Snap On actually rebrands these because they are so awesome. I suggest buying them here because they are exactly the same, just at a lower cost than you would pay from the Snap on truck.I cannot say enough good things about these pliers. Absolutely worth every penny.

Poor thumb screw, otherwise good
As many other people have said, even after being oiled and broken in, the thumb screw is very hard to turn. That part of these pliers seems really poorly designed as the screw is in a weld seam. The orange paint came scratched in a few areas which worries me a bit about rust, but keeping them oiled has prevented any issues for me.Otherwise these pliers work well and the release mechanism is reasonably easy to use even when the pliers are really tight. The handle is designed well enough that they are comfortable to use and can be really tightened pretty easily.

Questionable if worth high end prices, even if it is true they OEM Snap on locking plier tools
Received these today. Unfortunately, the packaging was damaged, which provides some insights i did not expect. I'll be fair, considering. The damage was cosmetic, and since it was due to transit and packaging, no stars deducted due to that. What follows appear to be quality issues from factory, not shipping. Functionally, compared to a 10 inch Knipex, it's not quite as smooth. The rivets and press fittings do not have as high a quality fit and finish compared to a Knipex - these Grip-on's have 1 rivet with a protruding edge. The 2 joints holding the top jaw in place are functionally ok, but 1 as poor fit/finish. Lastly, the jaws meet at the tip in the sides and front, but the teeth no only do not align, paper can be slid between them when the jaws are closed and locked with force. In short, these could function, but no better than something 1/3 the cost. Based on all the positive reviews, this may be a one off. I decided to post this anyway, because of multiple defects. One defect can be a random quality issue. Multiple are less likely

I bought this to replace my 30 year old Irwin Vice Grips after reading the negative comments on some other brands. I do not like the paint job on it and would prefer a bare metal tool but otherwise it's a fantastic replacement for the original. I can definitely see myself using this for the next 30 years, even if the paint flakes off.*5 years later it still works just fine. The paint looks like garbage, as expected. I still have my original Irwin, the screw will barely turn and the rust has taken most of it. No rust or stiffness on the Grip-on...so far. For the price I feel like I have my money's worth.

Work ok and like the euro-style release lever but the screw adjustment is gritty at best.
Read about these on a tool blog site. (toolguyd, great site) They release much smoother Than normal vice grips where you push the lever away to open them. These you squeeze the extended lever and they cam open smoothly. Big improvement when you are tightly clamped down on something. The bad is the threaded adjustment screw feels like it is full of sand. It is just bad quality like you expect from harbor freight, not quality tools. I took it apart, greased the screw threads and ran it in and out a bunch of times and it is now just . . . crappy. Maybe it will wear in but I'm not proud of them.

A very good locking pliers tool.
For most uses up to medium level projects, these Grip-On locking pliers work very well. The pliers are made in Spain and are a step above many other locking pliers. The curved jaw design is made for gripping round objects such as rebar, pipe or cable. The release level is strong and well integrated into the pliers' frame. The Orange color makes these pliers easy to find.
