Swan Commercial Food Slicer

Works well and not so hard to clean once you get the hang of it. Just keep your eye on what you're doing and you won't lose a finger.

The product is faulty, i have been waiting since february for the product to be replaced or give a refund, so far niether has happened. Not good.

I've used this several times now and am very happy with its performance. I now get much better value out of joints of meat as the machine can slice as thin or thick as you like right down to the end. It is reasonably easy to clean as long as the blade is removed first.The only reason I dropped a star is because the nut that requires removal first before removing the blade has a very shallow indent which requires either an exceptionally wide screwdriver or a coin. It would have been more effective to have a couple of holes in the nut (similar as on metal/stone grinders) to ensble a more positive removal. Make sure the nut is removed in a clockwise direction and check the position of the washers behind the blade before removal as the instruction book doesn't illustrate the position of these washers if they become detached.

when using it to slice bread it sliced ok but left half the slice in the cutter meat cutting was not much better ,good solid build let down by the performance

The slicer is satisfactory but not excellent. The blade does not seem to be as sharp as it might be. As we have our original Slicer re-paired, it is OK as a spare.

much better than i expected excellent value for money prompt delivery but i wish who ever delivered the parcel would nt sling it over the fence

This slicer performs ok but the blade does not remain sharp for more than four or five months even with low use (We cut four slices of bread per day!) It is impossible to re-sharpen it yourself, indeed when I emailed Swan their reply stated that customers should not attempt to sharpen the blade, it must be re-sharpened professionally. Apart from the likely cost and inconvenience of this I can find no professional blade sharpening service in Meseyside/Manchester. Since the machine is now useless, as it shreds our bread when we use it, we have a very expensive kitchen ornament! I could not therefore advise anyone to buy it.
