Nell Hill's Style At Home

Evidently people either love this book or hate it. I can see that her style is a little over the top compared to what is current today, but the trouble is that most of what I see in magazines and books today seems to be reaching for something trendy instead of timeless. Yes, she has a lot of stuff sitting around--I personally wouldn't do so much of that. However, if you really look at it, it is evident that most of it is quality stuff that will survive for more than just the next couple of years. These are classic heirloom furnishings and accessories. Her great-grandchildren will be able to inherit her china and silver and paintings and tables and chairs and feel blessed instead of burdened. I'm looking forward to indulging myself with the rest of her books!

This is a very beautifully photographed book. If you are familiar with the NELL HILL STYLE, then you will love this book.The "Nell Hill Style", to me, is very classic and very "romantic". This is not really a how-to book but a book about home ideas...especially if you are the type of decorator that needs photos to inspire you.

Lovely book, gets one inspired to decorate. I don't have as big a house as this one, but you can get a lot of ideas for whatever space you have. Just nice for the inspiration too.

My house is smaller but her ideas are large and adaptable

I love the ideas she provides........................all her books are so interesting and well thought out with color and placement of items. I have received alot of complements using her decorating ideas!!
