Worth every penny
Excellent product. I bought this tool because it is made in America. I have built 3 sets of tractor tire chains with it so far. They are currently on loan to a friend to modify a set for his tractor. I made one set of chains without this tool and it took me 3x as long.

I was told it is MADE IN AMERICA
This tool is used for fixing and repairing commercial semi truck tire chains. I bought this because Amazon.com checked and told me it is AMERICAN made. I have not been able to find an American made one anywhere else! I have only had a chance to use it once and it performed fine. The cheap not American made one I got else where bent on the first use.

... one from tirechain for 1/3 less and it works better than this one
I bought a one from tirechain.com for a lot less and it works better than this one. The jaws on this hk porter don't open wide enough. The cheaper ones open wider allowing the tool to open and close large truck and tractor hooks. This one doesn't. The HK porter handles are not symmetrical making it more clumsy to use.

Bent Handles - One Twisted and Out of Plane With the Other
I would have added a star if the handles had been straight and true. On the one that I got - the top (in the picture) handle (the one without the rubber grip) was both bent out of plane with the other handle and appeared to have a slight twist. I can't imagine that this happened in transit as the inner and outer packaging were perfect. If I hadn't needed it for a job - it would have been returned. My thought is that there is less than perfect QA at the factory - but a 6 inch vise, some twisting, bending and pounding with a big dead blow mallet - got the handles into decent (not perfect alignment) - and the tool did its job.
