Good Business Advice, Easy to Understand
While I'm not a business/corporate guy, I've read a range of business books simply because I'm interested in why some businesses are successful while others flounder. Most of these books have a few useful points to make, but many of those points get lost in jargon and inscrutable analysis. So I was delighted to discover On Innovation by Terry Jones. Using many short chapters, Jones offers up a wide range of intriguing concepts and explains them in easy-to-understand terms. I came away with many good insights about the new, digital world where business is increasingly moving online. Jones - a heavy hitter who founded Travelocity.com - sees the big picture of how to design and market products and services, find customers, and retain them. As I read, I thought about my own work, filtered through his questions and observations, and I came up with multiple ideas about how to do things better. Highly recommended.

On Innovation
After hearing Terry Jones speak as the keynote speaker in San Diego I immediately ordered the book On Innovation. Terry is a first class speaker and an equally successful author. His success as the Founder of Travelocity and the Chairman of Kayak.com speak for themselves, yet it is his ability to share his experience as it pertains to every day language that can either reinforce what you do daily is accurate, make some tweaks to improve your business, and gain some real "ah ha" moments that will make your business big revenues. This book is written is short chapters will notes and questions at the end of each chapter making it at the very least a motivational type book and certainly a practical guide that is easily implemented in your business!Consider this book a MUST read for all business owners or managers!

Great Read
I had the Privelage to hear Terry speak at a convention in Florida a few weeks ago. During his speech he mentioned that he has a book out. After listening to his speech I purachsed the book. The book was awesome. The chapters were very easy to read and never once got lost. I recommend this book to anyone that has an eye for innovation and a way to think about building culture and your team.

Fun Read
Terry's book is a bowl full of tasty crunchy useful bits. The stories are drawn from his experience with a minicomputer startup back in the day (ADS), being sucked into a bureaucratic behemoth (AA), creating a startup company within the belly of the beast (Travelocity), and, finally, a successful Internet startup(Kayak.com).The vignettes range from reminding us about things we know about but perhaps don't do much anymore (MBWA), examples of sideways thinking to solve a problem (the logo in the parking lot), to just plain funny (the stripper and the software guru). A good read.Full disclosure: I worked with Terry for years and have the utmost respect for him as a friend and a professional colleague. My prejudices notwithstanding, this is an excellent book and truly a fun read.

Book is for business owners who may want ideas
The book gives ideas about how to run or grow a business. There is too much "Look what I did"The author spends a lot of time telling us what may have worked for him- and is a bit too egocentric.

Wish I could have been on Terry Jones Team:
Have you ever built a product or company or pitched a new plan to your team or organization? It's harder than it looks. Terry - has the experience and track record to give direct insights and knows what he is talking about - inspiration - creation - failure - and do it again. Terry lays out what it takes for the culture that is required for success - and how to pull that together as a leader or team member. Wish I could have been on the ground floor of Travelocity or Kayak but I am lucky to share the journey through ON. Terrific read. Thank you!

Thought-Provoking
I purchased this book after hearing Terry Jones be interviewed on Sacramento's PBS station (Insight). My work is in the non-profit arena as the acting CEO (unpaid) for a new foundation. I have enjoyed reading Terry's book, culling out insights and suggestions that can be used to help the CA Collaborative Justice Courts Foundation thrive. Although Terry's corporate arena functions on some different assumptions than the one in which I am working, I have been able to apply several ideas to my work. Thank you, Terry Jones, for sharing!
