Can you run this 24/7 without it dying in a few weeks/months?

I've had it running 24/7 for 11 months and it hasn't died yet, though there is a bit of a wobbly sound coming from it now.

Does this work for a heavy noisey walker over me??????

Unfortunately heavy walking sounds are almost impossible to negate since they are low frequency, bassy vibrations that are felt as much as they are heard, so I feel it my duty to temper your expectations. This is not to say that the fan sounds and white noise of the EVO won't help, because I know for a fact that these machines have helped people in similar situations, but I hesitate to make a determination that this machine is going to solve all of your problems with a noisy upstairs heavy walker due to the nature of low frequency sound vibrsations. What the EVO will do is raise the "sound floor" in your apartment, so that instead of hearing the loud thumps of your heavy walking neighbor against a silent backdrop, there will be a base-line blanket of white noise, so that when the thumping of the heavy footsteps occurs, it is less bothersome. Are the fan noises on this realistic ?

Yes. Loud with bass. We have tried several different items and this machine is the best and loudest fan/white noise machine we have found. We own 6 of them.

sometimes if find my a/c fan too loud, has anyone found the white noise disturbing as well?

I found some of the sounds annoying but there is one that doesn't disturb my sleep if it's not too loud
