most (or all) of the piano works - only problem is the book is bulky
I believe this book contains most (if not all) of Jelly Roll Morton piano works, some of which I like dearly. The only problem is that the book bulky, and a bit hard to place on the piano and have it remain open (that is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5).

Jelly Roll gold...
Excellent - history and notes on each composition outstanding. As much a historical study on Morton and his musical impact, growth and precursor to modern jazz as a great collection and study of his works.

Morton Bible
this is the most complete and magnificent edition of Morton's music, with a lot of information about his life, his career as a composer and pianist with detailed dates and pictures. is a think book. The only issue is that is not easy to keep open on the piano stand but other than that this is a real gem.

There is a lot of music in here.
I may not be able to ever go through all of it, but there's definitely a lot to learn musically by studying what's in here. The ragtime and stride eras of music generally speaking were definitely some of my favorites.

Awesome transcriptions, and worthy of study!
Every serious pianist who wishes to expand their stylistic resume should make a study of these transcriptions of "live" recordings by this legendary pianist. This is not for the beginner or intermediate level player: this is the straight proof.

The only 'Jelly Roll' Morton book you will ever need.
I'm not kidding- every tune he recorded is transcribed with absolute, painstaking detail. I've loved getting some of these tunes into my fingers!

Great content pity about the binding
It contains the pieces I want but WHY oh WHY does it have to be bound in a way that it is impossible to use at a piano. It doesnt stay open. I had to pay extra at a print shop to have the spine cut off and replaced with spiral binding. Why can't products aimed at pianists be produced in a way we can actually use them???? Come on publishers - I would be prepared to pay extra so that I don't have the hassle of taking the music in and fetching again. Why not produce as Pdf's as well?

no easy pieces to play
This is a huge volume - something to really get your teeth into, no easy pieces to play. A ring binding would have been a better idea.

Morton challenge
Great addition to my collection of piano music. Not easy music but I like a challenge. Pieces are suitable for advance players.

Everything I could have wanted with the exception of the binding. Difficult to keep the book open at one page.
